Weekend Snapshots | 6

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by Finn's first dog park adventure! I've been hesitant to take him because of the stories I've heard about evil folks doing shady shit at dog parks. I used to take Leana Little all the time because she's the best behaved but then the stories freaked me out so we stopped. I'd say it's been about three years or so. I'm pretty sure I had more fun than her because she never left my side but I got to cuddle all sorts of cute kids, haha!

We took him to the Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth Park on Horsepen Creek and parked on the wrong side so we had a mile to walk before we hit the dog area. We decided to visit this one because a few friends had mentioned how clean and safe it was what with the patrol and maintenance being done regularly. I once again had a great time watching the little man act super nervous. Oh, and he proved to us that he is totally a mama's boy and I am A-OK with that 😀

PS: I've never posted my WS on a Friday but it's been a super busy week
and I didn't want to miss sharing my little boy's big adventure, haha!

Weekend Snapshots | 5

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by my adventure at a monster truck event, the Monster Jam at NRG Stadium. This was my first monster truck rally and I loved it so much that I considered going to Vegas for the final!! Okay, by considered I mean I checked out the prices and the thought of going disappeared real quick. 😂

I found it hilarious that there weren't too many adults without children. Thankfully the group we were with had three kids in it so we were good! Oh, one thing that made me smile from ear to ear was seeing fathers with their daughter(s)! I swear it was the sweetest shit, ever. While waiting in a drink line, a father put a monster truck hat (it was shaped like a freaking monster truck & I should have bought me one!!) on his daughter and giggled like a schoolgirl as he told her not to move so he could take a picture for mom! Haha! Want to see a father & daughter having a great time at the rally? Check out this picture of Brownlee & his mini-me daughter, Addy! Cute, right? Yeah, imagine a ton of those all around you! Brownlee is Brewrites husband and Addy is their daughter. Speaking of which, hoping to bring her back this year for #ThePaperFiles. OH, and stay tuned for this month's #ThePaperFiles with Connie and her mini-me, Camila!

Something I want to put out there in case you haven't had someone tell you already is... NEVER ZOOM IN ON YOUR CAMERA PHONE! Yeah, I did it. And the pictures below will prove that it's a no-no! I wasn't very prepared for this event which is why my camera didn't make it in.

Just one more chapter, please! | 1

I'm starting a new series to keep me accountable. See, I started a reading challenge on Goodreads and I'm trying to read 10 books this year. I can't remember how many books I challenged myself to read last year but I'm pretty sure I didn't reach my goal. Because procrastination. Not this year, though. I'm planning on following through and I hope you harass me in order to do so. 😀

Weekend Snapshots | 4

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by this cute and funny plate my sister found at the store the other day. It was a set of 4 dishes in different colors with the same saying but there was no price and they were all chipped somewhere so we passed. Hilarious, though, right? 😂

Jihane and I hit up a Superbowl edition Pop Up Shop hosted by the Pop Up Shop Chicks because you know we love to shop local. The only frustrating part was that it was located in downtown and the word chaos doesn't even cover the shit we went through. BUT, it was worth it once we finally got our cars valeted.

Flat Creek Crossing Ranch

Untitled

We were invited to Flat Creek Crossing Ranch in Johnson City, TX to celebrate a birthday and to enjoy the outdoors. This would be our very first family camping trip with Finn and our little teepee pop up camper thang, haha!

When the boys went riding, the girls (& dogs) would go explore the trails. It was an amazing trip even though it was SO cold. We wanted to be close to our friends who would be sleeping in tents so we didn't park next to electricity or water connections. January in Texas does get cold. Pretty damn cold. We wore multiple layers and made fires when it was possible.

The hiking wasn't brutal like I thought it would be. I mean, I don't work out and I only run when food is involved. So hiking the 13 miles that Ana (my favorite camping buddy) her two dogs, Finn and I pulled off was pretty fantastical! It was a bit challenging when we realized we were lost, haha, but we overcame and made it out like champs! Thankfully, none of the guys were hurt on their riding adventures.

My brother-in-law Allen joined us on our adventure as well. It's been a while since we've seen him as he lives in Australia. Hearing his stories and eating his food was the best! Allen is fantastical in the kitchen. His breakfast tacos are heaven!! The stories freaked us out a little. Like how it's not easy to get certain foods there like avocados. I can't live without avocados. They are everything! Haha!

Shout out to Mama Carrizo for lending us her Pathfinder who I've named Big Carrizo, haha! It was a very comfy 4-hour drive with the Reed squad and we're incredibly grateful! Check out the pictures below and for more visit me on Flickr. If you click any image it'll take you straight there. The resolution there is excellent!!
