Hiatus 2017

It's vacation with the familia time and that means I'll be MIA
from the blog but you can still find me on my social networks!

I'll be heading out to Panama City Beach, FL with my mom and
two sisters this weekend and I'll be back April 25th.

Yeah, I started the hiatus a week early because I'm lazy and won't be updating the blog.

Anyways, have a great two weeks and I'll see ya when I come back!

PL + 2017 + WK 1

Today I'm taking it back to 2014 and starting Project Life, again! I've tried this form of memory keeping for three years and have yet to complete an entire year. Starting it again this year doesn't necessarily mean I'll be finishing this year. It means that I'm tired of seeing all my scrapbooking goodies not being used. Not to mention the amount of cash I've spent on cards, stamps, paper, stickers, etc. So yeah, crossing my fingers once again.

This year I'm going back to the 12x12 format because the 9x12 format didn't do it for me. I blame switching sizes to not following through last year 🤷🏻‍♀️ I did so much research on the size and I was so excitamated when I finally jumped on a sale to buy the new binder and clear sheets. But no. It was a major fail on my part. I couldn't adapt to the smaller version with all the shit I wanted to add each week. What I am keeping is the Monday to Sunday weeks so that I can keep my weekends in one spread instead of splitting them up every week. I plan on cutting the ton of 12x12 pages I have for my backgrounds and keeping the journaling short.

FYI: These pictures are shit and I apologize. My camera's flash died (think I mentioned it before) so I've been improvising "light" in different ways.

Wish me luck 😁

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by my shade game via the HTX Boss Babes Spring Pop-Up Market! I tried three pairs of shades on by Vida Antigua and then realized they were the same except a different color, haha! That meant I had to buy a pair, right? My sister liked a few so she hooked me up with a navy pair!

I'm really big on shopping local and of course handmade so visiting this pop-up market with Mama Carrizo and my sister was a big deal to me. I wanted them to see the goodies the ladies in our city create and how much fun it is to hang out at these markets. Truth is, my mama might be joining some of these pop-up shops soon. More on that later!

Weekend Snapshots | 11

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by my birthday adventure to Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, TX! This was my view Sunday morning while awaiting a tasty birthday breakfast. Shout out to Ana for gifting me this lovely book by rupi kaur titled milk and honey (affiliate)! So yes, I turned 33 and if my birthday weekend is any indication of what 33 will be like.. I am so freaking ready!!

The plan since our January adventure has been to have at least one trip a month this year! So when my birthday landed on a weekend, we knew we had to plan a birthday trip! We invited some homies and their pups and off we went. I thank all the gods for allowing my birthday trip to happen without any major storms. I mention this because we heard Houston was hit with some heavy storms so we definitely dodged that bullet.

We ate a lot. The trip and the fantastical food menu for the weekend was my husband's gift to me. He said he thought about what it was that I truly loved and what made me incredibly happy. He didn't have to think too much because eating came to mind almost immediately 😂 He searched the interwebs for tasty camping grub and BAM! He came through for me, haha!

Anyways, check out the snapshots below and don't forget
to watch the last video. I promise you it'll make you smile and maybe even laugh!

THE PAPER FILES + GIVEAWAY | March 2017

Today's #ThePaperFiles post is brought to you by cereal and Typo! That's right, this month's giveaway is full of awesome Typo goodies and I'm excitamated about it! I teamed up with Bre from Brewrites for March's giveaway!

I typically like to have a theme for these giveaways. Bre and I really didn't have an idea on what we wanted the theme to be but we both like the color black so we rolled with it. This is my birthday month so you'd think we could have come up with something else. LOL! To be honest, it was a weekday evening when we met up at Typo and you know how exhausting it is to be an adult.. the end of the week just made it worse. But, we did stop at Tout Suite and that's always a fun & delicious stop! My husband was out of town so I bought 4 macarons and actually got to eat them myself 🤣

One more thing- I want to apologize if the pictures are crappier than usual. My camera's flash died and I haven't repaired it yet. These pictures are my first ones taken outside in the sun. I'm sure most would say that this is the best way to do it but whatevs 🤷😁

On to the goodies!

Number Dos: The working week in summary spiral - blank pages - 4-1/2 x 6-1/2

Weekend Snapshots | 10

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by the Houston Rodeo, my sister, and this mama that was stressed out and ready to give birth (she more than likely already did!). According to Mama Carrizo, we saw the Rodeo animals together about 22 years ago. I admit that the times I've been there since then, I've only been to the concert or I go straight to the food. I'm not much of a carnival ride person because I'm not trying to die. Not that people die on them, I just can't handle it 😂

Seeing the animals was pretty exciting to me! Now although I love animals, I am not a vegetarian but don't think I haven't considered it. A few years ago my husband showed me a video of how cows are mistreated and then killed. It freaking broke me. I think I lasted a month or so without beef, pork, & chicken. The reason why I went back was because I started to feel a bit weak and I wasn't sleeping right. I believe it was because I wasn't getting those nutrients elsewhere. I've considered doing it again, I just have to find the right mix because you know I love to eat!

This isn't to say that all Houston Rodeo animals are killed or not because I honestly don't know the deal with these animals. I do know that none of them looked to be mistreated or upset. We saw a few steers that were very affectionate towards their handler and that definitely put a smile on my face!

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by the lovely Sweet Tea (Yes, I know I capitalized it Grammarly!!) station in my local Whataburger! It is quite a beauty and tastes delicious. Just so we're clear, Whataburger Sweet Tea is tasty but definitely not my #1. That's a conversation for another day.

Thanks to my fantastical Whataburger tumbler, I can keep my Sweet Tea cold pretty much all day. No, this is not an advertisement and no that's not an affiliate link (although, I should be paid for all this free advertisement I give them 🤔 ) I just really like Sweet Tea and my tumbler so I brag about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by bananas! Okay, not really but they were part of the theme for the birthday party I went to Saturday. Not your typical party as it was for a one-year-old but it was a blast! Baby Matthew turned one and the birthday theme was monkeys. His mama, Farah (bottom), got all the deco help from Pinterest and dammit am I a proud friend, haha!

Shout out to Jessica (left), Susana (right), and Farah (bottom) for being my friend for what seems like forever. I have been lucky enough to call these ladies my friends for many, many years even though we don't see or speak to each other every day. If that's not friendship, I have this thing all types of wrong! Thanks so much to Farah and Javier for inviting us to the birthday shindig and winning not one but two prizes, haha!

On another note, this post is late because it's been another busy week and I've come down with a sinus infection or cold or.. honestly, I'm not sure what it is and my doc wasn't very clear. Point is, I haven't been sick in like two years and so I feel like serious shit. I'm writing all of this from my bed btw.

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by our anniversary adventure in Huntsville State Park. That's right, the husband, Finnashit, and I packed up and drove about two hours to camp it up on our 5 year wedding anniversary. It's crazy how fast time flies but it really feels like we've been married for far longer than that, haha! We met up with another couple there and when they left Saturday at noon, another couple met us there!

Finn and I had never been to this park so we were excitamated for the new adventure! I especially liked that the drive was way shorter than the Flat Creek adventure but Flat Creek still has my heart! What the husband and I didn't plan on was the weather dropping the way it did. We froze our asses off Friday night and it put me in a really shitty mood. My apologies to my husband and the Finnashit, but I needed warmth and although my sleeping bag was super thermal, I was still fucking cold!

See more photos below or on my FLICKR.

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by Finn's first dog park adventure! I've been hesitant to take him because of the stories I've heard about evil folks doing shady shit at dog parks. I used to take Leana Little all the time because she's the best behaved but then the stories freaked me out so we stopped. I'd say it's been about three years or so. I'm pretty sure I had more fun than her because she never left my side but I got to cuddle all sorts of cute kids, haha!

We took him to the Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth Park on Horsepen Creek and parked on the wrong side so we had a mile to walk before we hit the dog area. We decided to visit this one because a few friends had mentioned how clean and safe it was what with the patrol and maintenance being done regularly. I once again had a great time watching the little man act super nervous. Oh, and he proved to us that he is totally a mama's boy and I am A-OK with that 😀

PS: I've never posted my WS on a Friday but it's been a super busy week
and I didn't want to miss sharing my little boy's big adventure, haha!

THE PAPER FILES + GIVEAWAY | February 2017

Pink is not one of my favorite colors but it's one of the colors of Valentine's day so this giveaway will have a ton of pink & I'm okay with that. In this month's giveaway, I teamed up with Connie from Momma of dos and her daughter Camila. We did two giveaways last year and had mucho fun! I've known these ladies for quite some time now and I love it when they join me for a paper giveaway!

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by my adventure at a monster truck event, the Monster Jam at NRG Stadium. This was my first monster truck rally and I loved it so much that I considered going to Vegas for the final!! Okay, by considered I mean I checked out the prices and the thought of going disappeared real quick. 😂

I found it hilarious that there weren't too many adults without children. Thankfully the group we were with had three kids in it so we were good! Oh, one thing that made me smile from ear to ear was seeing fathers with their daughter(s)! I swear it was the sweetest shit, ever. While waiting in a drink line, a father put a monster truck hat (it was shaped like a freaking monster truck & I should have bought me one!!) on his daughter and giggled like a schoolgirl as he told her not to move so he could take a picture for mom! Haha! Want to see a father & daughter having a great time at the rally? Check out this picture of Brownlee & his mini-me daughter, Addy! Cute, right? Yeah, imagine a ton of those all around you! Brownlee is Brewrites husband and Addy is their daughter. Speaking of which, hoping to bring her back this year for #ThePaperFiles. OH, and stay tuned for this month's #ThePaperFiles with Connie and her mini-me, Camila!

Something I want to put out there in case you haven't had someone tell you already is... NEVER ZOOM IN ON YOUR CAMERA PHONE! Yeah, I did it. And the pictures below will prove that it's a no-no! I wasn't very prepared for this event which is why my camera didn't make it in.

Just one more chapter, please! | 1

I'm starting a new series to keep me accountable. See, I started a reading challenge on Goodreads and I'm trying to read 10 books this year. I can't remember how many books I challenged myself to read last year but I'm pretty sure I didn't reach my goal. Because procrastination. Not this year, though. I'm planning on following through and I hope you harass me in order to do so. 😀

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by this cute and funny plate my sister found at the store the other day. It was a set of 4 dishes in different colors with the same saying but there was no price and they were all chipped somewhere so we passed. Hilarious, though, right? 😂

Jihane and I hit up a Superbowl edition Pop Up Shop hosted by the Pop Up Shop Chicks because you know we love to shop local. The only frustrating part was that it was located in downtown and the word chaos doesn't even cover the shit we went through. BUT, it was worth it once we finally got our cars valeted.

Weekend Snapshots | 3

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by our camping trip to Johnson City, TX! And of course a super cute picture of the Finnashit! That's right, Finnashit, husband, brother in law and I went on our first camping trip together to a lovely place called Flat Creek Crossing Ranch and it was a shitton more fun than I expected!

We decided to take Finn last minute and once on the road, I started to regret bringing him. I think it was mostly because I was worried he wouldn't be down for the hiking since he's such a spoiled city kid. Thankfully, the kid made me super proud with his billy goat skills and we had a blast bonding and exploring together. Our trip was to celebrate a friend's birthday so while the boys rode their bikes and tried not to kill themselves, the one other female (Ana), her two dogs, the Finnashit and I explored! Can't wait to do this again come April!

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by the Finnashit and my favorite tote right now from Out Of Print Clothing. If it doesn't look familiar, it's from A Clockwork Orange (book and movie - both affiliates). And since we're on the subject, why doesn't this image look familiar to you? Why haven't you read it or at least seen the movie? 😬 Get it together, people!

Before I forget, Out of Print Clothing is celebrating their 7th anniversary with a 30% OFF sale (use HAPPY30 at checkout. Ends Wed 01/25). For those who aren't familiar with them, every purchase made helps fund a literacy program along with some book donations to communities in need. It also supports the artists, authors, and publishers who made these great stories.

Moving along...

The Paper Files + Giveaway | January 2017

The Paper Files series worked out lovely last year so I'm bringing it back for 2017! We're starting the year the same way we did last year with a fun planner giveaway! As a paperhead, I understand how hard it is to find a planner that works. Especially since there is so much competition these days. I also understand that sometimes we end up with more than one planner for a single year 😉  and I'm totally the last person to judge ya for it. I'm guilty as we speak because I have two in my possession and one on the way. See what had happened was... my sister went on a mission to find one for Mama Carrizo and she ended up with a few extras. I checked them out the other day and one of them called my name. What? It's in my blood, as you can see. 😁

Number Uno: 2017 Day Planner by Lady Jayne Ltd. - 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" - 12 month weekly planner. Lots of pages for notes and the bottom tips tear off for page saving.

Number Dos: ACCOMPLISH pad (affiliate) by Knock Knock - 6" x 9"

Number Tres: 2017 Desktop calendar with stand by American Crafts - 8 1/2" x 5"

Weekend Snapshots | 1

Happy 2017, y'all! I hope the holidays treated you and your familia well! My holidays were full of great food, my favorite people, and of course, a lot of sleep! Can you believe it's been a little over a month since I popped my head in here? Crazy but I'm back and ready for the new year shenanigans!

Today's #WeekendSnapshots is brought to you by a gift Sandy Claws hooked me up with! Whataburger freaking socks! I'm sure you can imagine the smile on my face when I unwrapped them. I'm in love with Whataburger and I don't care who knows it, obviously!

So we're changing it up this year with this series and by we're I mean, Jess and I. We've decided to do a year long link up. This means all the links for this series will be all together for the year. It'll be fun to look back at the end of the year and see all of the amazing weekends we all had!

Something else I'm changing is how I tell you about my weekend. I'll keep it short, sweet, & near the image unless some crazy, fantastical event happens that I have to spill the beans about!

Stay tuned this week for a series from 2016 that I just had to bring back! 😉
