Weekend Snapshots | 38

Today I'm sharing my Weekend Snapshots 38, brought to you by the fantastical view of lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas. This is where E and I spent our relaxing 7 year anniversary. Eek, 7 years seems like such a long time and I swear it feels like it's been at least 10 years LOL!

Typically on our lake trips we leave late at night so we don't have to deal with traffic. Bossman gave me Friday off so we left Thursday night. It's not too bad since we both like to drive, but those deers are no joke. I remember driving up there one night alone to meet with E and being so freaking close to hitting a deer that ran onto the freeway. The car next to me wasn't so lucky, though. The noise and the splatter is one of those things I'll never forget. That and the fact that I love animals made that drive so memorable. RIP little dude.

We spent some time on the jet ski's (the water was ccccold) and some time sunbathing but mostly sleeping. We're such party animals, haha! We hit up HEB because food and found a sweet Dia de los Muertos wax warmer. It was $15 and I was iffy about getting it but I know I'd regret it if I didn't. They also had some pillows, cups and a plug-in wax warmer. Might go back for the plug-in ;) We also found some Arby's curly fries that were most definitely a must for our burgers! And in case you're wondering, yes they tasted just like the ones from the restaurant. Another thing we found at HEB was my bestest friend, Blue Bell Cookies N' Cream ice cream. I spoiled the BFF with some time on the lake as breakfast. Cause that's what all champs eat for breakfast, right?

We made some sweet adult beverages and enjoyed our time together without worrying about the adult responsibilities in Houston. Thankfully, Mama Carrizo came through and doggy sat our kids while we were gone. Saturday morning felt pretty weird without my five shadows, haha!  I'm pretty sure the next time we go, Finnashit will be joining us. I missed that little boy like crazy <3

We decided to head home a day early so that we wouldn't feel rushed Sunday to get home and get our shit in order before the work week. The plan was to leave Saturday evening and hit up this restaurant in Bee Cave that we've been to before. By the time we got on the road, it was an hour and half before the restaurant closed. Our drive would have taken an hour and we didn't feel right making folks cook for us when we know they would be closing soon. We opted for my favorite place ever, Whataburger!

Our kids were definitely ecstatic to see us. So of course when the boys got on the bed Sunday morning, neither of us said anything. I swear these boys are spoiled as shit and get away with anything! But you can't say no to these faces.. and the kisses and all the lovin'!

We hit up Chuy's for a late lunch and watched our boys, the Houston Texans, get a win in what seems like forrrevveerrrr. Not the best game played, but a win is a win so of course we'll take it!! Oh, and Dallas lost so that made Sunday even better! LOL!

Weekend Snapshots | 37

Today I'm sharing my Weekend Snapshots pt 37, brought to you by my boys Remidog & Finnashit. This weekend was truly one of the best I've had in a very long time. I was in fantastical company, ate some nomtastic goodies and even caught up on some pillow time!

Weekend started off with a Houston event that I've been super excitamated to attend for a few weeks now. It was FYHA's grand opening party and it was a must for me because duh! Houston IS awesome and F**k is one of my fav curse words :) I censored that for you..

F**k you, Houston's Awsome has had an online store for a while & I'm pretty sure they've had a store before but this was like the super duper grand opening party for them... I guess? The store is located at 2315 Commerce, 77002 if you're down to stop by and say shellos! It's in a warehouse type district so if you stop by to say shellos to them, make sure you stop at the other shops in the bldg.

Two of my girls joined me on this Houston adventure & I'm glad I invited them. We enjoyed some great art, interesting characters, music, tacos from a fantastical truck (cannot remember the name #fail), bought a shirt and even saw some homies I knew. Bre from Brewrites & her husband were there, we totally should have taken a picture #bloggerfail and my best man, J was there too. I totally should have expected to see him because he's too damn cool to not attend LOL! Grand Prize held the after party for the FYHA event with a special drink called The Purple Prize.. loaded with Bacardi 151, grape liqueur, Sprite, gardnished with a grapy Jolly Rancher and served with a double styrofoam cup. I mean, it's Houston 100%!!

Saturday was a super duper chill day for me. E spent the morning and evening biking with a few hour breaks in between. This meant I could catch up on my shows and be extremly lazy with no judgement. Not that E judges me, but sometimes #ChulatheChi judges me or Remidog does when he wants to romp around outside and I'm just not having it.

Sunday was a glorious day. I started my weekend reppin' Houston and ended it the same damn way. We hit up Bernie's Burger Bus in Bellaire for the first time since they opened up a storefront. We were big fans of the buses but since we moved, everything is so far... So when E and I contemplated on what we wanted for lunch and Bernie's came up..we knew we couldn't say no even though it was so far. Not only was it worth it, but we also brought home leftovers!!

I ended my day with Tyler Durden and Bluebell ice cream. I think it's safe to say it was a good weekend!

Weekend Snapshots | 36

Today I'm sharing my Weekend Snapshots pt 36, brought to you by the homie Connie from Momma of Dos and my silly face. Connie and I attended a social network workshop on Saturday by The Marketing Chicks. Before I get into that I want to mention that every time I write my first paragraph of my Weekend Snapshots, I feel as if the days, weeks, months are moving faster and faster. This feeling makes me want to appreciate every second/minute of the day just a little bit longer. You should do the same.

As I said above, we started our weekend with a social network workshop by The Marketing Chicks. It was an event held to help folks with their social networking. This workshop was especially good for small businesses that are trying to get their name out. As a blogger, our name/brand is our business. I forget this pretty often because I look at my blog more as a hobby than a job and then Connie smacks me and reminds me that 3twentysix is a business! It's great to have good friends like her LOL!

The workshop was located in City Centre, Hotel Sorella and they had breakfast for us. Legit freaking breakfast. Connie & I never say no to food, especially free food so you know we were all over it. After breakfast, we went upstairs to the penthouse for our workshop. Yes, the penthouse with a sweet view of City Centre and the beautiful Houston Sky. Houston just had a weather change (fake Fall is what I call it) and the weekend was glorious because of it. So we mingled with new folks, learned some new tricks, had some free Chipotle (thanks to Nicole from The Marketing Chicks), took some selfies, and overall had a great Saturday with some very talented ladies.

I went out and celebrated a friend's 29th birthday Saturday night but failed miserably by not taking pictures. I was too busy mingling, eating and drinking. #sorrynotsorry. One of my really, really good friends from Florida mailed me a Texas goodie. I had completely forgotten about it and went a little crazy trying to figure out why I had received this. My name was spelled correctly and I knew it came from Florida. I searched my emails and my bank account to make sure I didn't buy it and forgot all about it. Finally, it hit me and I asked her about it. She said yeah and we laughed pretty hard about it.

We made burgers last night, but Kroger was out of our potato bread so we used the generic ones that are too small for our patties. We still ate them though.. I took a picture of E's burgers because he overpacks them and then they look funny. After the burgers, we all sort of started to pass out on the couch.... the boys included.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Peter Pan 360 Tour | Houston, TX

Disclosure: I received two media passes to attend this event.
The opinions expressed here are my own.

Today I'm sharing last nights adventure in Never Never Land. If you follow me on IG, you saw a few pictures and videos from the adventure. I swear they do this show no justice. JM Barrie's Peter Pan 360 opening night was last night. They'll be here until October 4th and I swear it's completely worth it. And not just if you have kids because we don't have any & still had a blast!

When I received the invite to watch the rehearsal and see the show, I was a bit ecstatic. I emailed E immediately and asked if he'd be interested in joining me in Never Never Land. He of course said yes and so the waiting game started.

We arrived early like the invite mentioned but the rain was so crazy that everyone was behind & running late. Thankfully the folks in charge were able to get us situated and before we knew it, we were inside the big theater tent and watching the actors do their thing. We got a chance to check out their fight call, which is basically a slow-mo of the two major fight scenes in the show. They use real blades so it's crucial that they practice so no one gets hurt. We also got a chance to talk to some of the actors, including awesomesauce Tinkerbell! We watched some flying scenes and the mermaids doing their thang which was super impressive. Then we were shown how the tent itself turns into a big projector. It truly makes a difference in the story, especially when they fly!!

After rehearsal we visited the VIP section which had some nomtastic drinks (wine & Stella) and some tasty Hors d'oeuvres. This gave me a chance to settle my excitement (& E's too) & post some goodies on FB & IG. I'd like to take a sec and mention how freaking great the staff was. From the Stage Manager to the chick selling us the popcorn.. everyone was so polite and helpful! And you know how i'm a stickler for customer service haha!

After the snacks, we went back in to find our spots. During the first ten minutes or so of the show, we felt like folks were being a bit rude or the mic's weren't on loud enough. The music was fine, but it was a hard to understand what they were saying. Thankfully, E & I know the Peter Pan story very well. It's definitely one of our favs! Once every one settled down, the show was mucho better!!

Watching the show after the rehearsal totally made a difference. Seeing the slo-mo with no music and no lights was cool, but once the lights and the sound came into play.. we were blown away!! There are about 22 actors and they all did so freaking well. The chemistry between them was there and the passion to play each character was on point. Nana and the alligator were both played by actors you could see. Instead of having a person in a dog suit, they had a puppeteer hold Nana up and make her noises (barks & whines). The alligator was played by two guys who either peddled or pushed with their feet. The Stage Manager mentioned that this was one of his favorite parts and when he was telling us I thought it was a bit weird... until I actually saw it happen. Now I can't picture Nana in any other way, yanno.

I imagine its not easy to travel 8 weeks or more at a time together when you miss your home or family/friend events. But then there's the happies.. the traveling with good friends and the smiles (ohhh's & ahh's too) on the folks faces when they are obviously very entertained by you. But this is the life they chose and it looks to be an entertaining one!

I'm extremely grateful to have had a chance to experience this awesome event & I'm wishing the cast a fantastical time in Houston. On & off the show!! Grab your kids, siblings, parents & grandparents & take them to this show! If you haven't purchased tickets yet you can get tickets here and visit the site for more details on the show. Follow them on Facebook & Instagram for news, sneak peaks and chat from the actors. One more thing.... #nevergrowup!!

See pictures and videos after the cut.

Weekend Snapshots | 35

Today I'm sharing my Weekend Snapshots pt 35, brought to you by Mama Carrizo at Friday's game. I don't usually include Friday in my snapshots, but this Friday was crucial to our existence. Okay, I'm exaggerating. Let me explain..

I'm not a huge futbol fan (Gasp! I know), neither is my mom. But when Argentina plays.. we are all over it! Friday was no different. Mama Carrizo, my sister and I packed into the car and headed to our first Argentina game with no other than Lionel Messi. If you are wondering who he is.. I'll tell you.. He's just the GREATEST futbol player in the WORLD!! Yes, the world. He's fantastical at what he does and he's an amazing humanitarian. Argentina played Bolivia and I'm still wondering where the hell Bolivia was during the game... The known Argentina players didn't really come out till later in the game, but we still won 7-0.

We were iffy about going because both Mama Carrizo and my sister worked. They found out the day before that they could take the night off and my sister rushed to buy tickets. Because we waited so long, our seats weren't the best. Not that we were complaining, though. It was our first visit to the BBVA Compass Stadium (where the Houston Dynamo play) and it was our first time watching Messi play live. He scored two points! And 5-6 people jumped down to the field and were tackled. LOL! One dude got so close to Messi it was unreal!!

On Saturday, E and I went to our first Sugar Land Skeeters game at the Constellation Field in Sugar Land. To us, baseball isn't a watch on TV sport. It's so much better to be there in person. Yelling at the batter to strike out or giving our guys props is what it's all about. Plus peanuts and the anthem and the mascot!! We were invited to join by the parents of some very good friends of ours. It's those friendships in which you don't speak or see each other often, but the love is there & so it's as if you've never skipped a beat. Yeah, one of those friendships! We had delicious food (no pictures because #iwastoohungry) surrounded by laughter and an entertaining game. We did a foot selfie (facepalm), but it was because I think one of the guys was trying to be funny and mentioned it. We all laughed it off and not ten seconds later.. we all had a foot in the circle LOL!

We didn't do much for Labor Day. Mostly because it was our catch up day, from the active week/weekend we had just had. Jay & Remidog definitely got the memo and proceeded to sleep their asses off. Ah, the life of a rescued dog..

The Paper Files | 4 - Where's Waldo?

Today I'm sharing some Where's Waldo? postcards that will be going to their new home to entertain the shizzle out of a new family! If you haven't already noticed, I'm a kid at heart so these cards speak to me! I grew up playing with the books and trying to find Waldo's mischievous ass. So when I saw this postcard set, I had to make it a part of my collection.

For those who don't know the backstory on Waldo..

His natural name is Wally so it is originally called, Where's Wally? In the US & Canada, his name was changed to Waldo. The books were created by an English illustrator named Martin Handford. The book series if full of very detailed, double-paged spreads of dozens or more people doing a number of amusing things at the theme picked by Martin. As a reader, you are challenged to find Waldo somewhere on the double-paged spread. Waldo wears a very distinctive red & white striped shirt, a hat and glasses that make him a bit easier to find.

These postcards in particular have Waldo hidden somewhere and then you're given three tasks to find in the image. Where it be to find a cat, a ladder or even a character wearing specific clothing. I figured this would be a great card to send to two families who have kids that have never heard of Waldo. Plus, who doesn't love snail mail these days? I know I do!!
