Project Life | Wk 19

Today I'm sharing Week 19 of my Project Life. I went with a simple look, one you should already know is my favorite. Just so you know.. I got ahead of myself, again, and made this Week 20 instead of 19. My bad! I didn't realize it until I started putting the pictures on this post. Actually.. the first sentence of this paragraph is what confused me haha! I ended up stamping the new numbers on white paper, cutting it up and putting small foam adhesives.. not too sure the adhesives were a good idea but whatevs.

So this week I went with gray and white with smaller pictures. I picked random colored stickers and wrote on only one card. Nothing special about this one but I like the simplicity of it. It has a lot of white which allows it to not look cluttered. Aside from my fast writing.. I really like this one. It says a lot as to who I am.. I'm a mamas girl who misses her old VW, geeks out to the force, enjoys the morning views of Houston, can't get enough of her 4-legged kids, likes to try new goodies and is a fan of Angelica Pickles. I sound pretty awesome, haha!

Weekend Snapshots | 25

Today's Weekend Snapshots is brought to you by bath time & Finn, the swiffer duster! He's the only one in my pack that enjoys bath time. Jay doesn't mind it but Finn will jump in the tub when someone else is getting bathed.. it's all quite funny and messy. E told me that Finn should go to the groomer, but I think his hair gives him character. Especially his little man beard that he's had since he was a puppy. Benjamin Button syndrome anyone? Haha!

A while back Stephen Amell (CW's Arrow) had a campaign benefiting Stand for Silent & Paws and Stripes. The campaign sold shirts, hoodies, iPhone case, tote bags, etc. Since I am a fan of Stephen (he's not that good of an actor but he's good peoples & nice to look at -wink-) and I support both of these organizations, I bought me a white tee. These types of campaigns (Represent.com) run on a timeline. They have a certain amount of days to collect the amount they'd like to reach (similar to Kickstater). Once the amount and the due date is reached, the product is sent to the purchaser. If the amount wasn't reached by the due date, nothing is done. The goal on this one was to sell 1,000 products to which they reached 67,000+. The only thing I wasn't too sure about is how much of the profits for these products were being given to these organizations..

I went out with Mama Carrizo and my sister on Saturday to celebrate Mama Carrizo's birthday! We gave her a little shopping spree and ate a nomtastic dinner at Japaneiro's in Sugar Land. While shopping, I came across a Kelly Kapowski shirt in the Men's section. Had it not been a large, I totally would have bought it for myself because who doesn't love Saved by the Bell and Kelly? Haha!

Japaneiro's is my fav place and I think I may be converting Mama Carrizo. She got herself a big ol' churrasco with plantanos that my sister & I kept stealing. Haha! We also got a free Oreo tempura because we hashtagged a pic on social media. I mean, these people know the way to my heart!!

Houston had magical rainbows on Saturday which was amazing because it was Pride day! The picture sort of sucks but I was driving and going the other way so this was the best I could do.

I added a picture of my boys sleeping after a rough game of No-it's-my-Kong. They play this game often and then sometimes Remidog will take one of Finn's stuffed toys just to frustrate Finn. Remidog's only obsession is the Kong. I told E that I think the Kong to Remidog is what our cell phones are to us. We take ours everywhere, even the bathroom. Remidog does the same thing Haha!

Last shot is of my beautiful friend, Marilla from Cupcake Rehab, and her Rockstar husband Jay. They've been together for 1.2 million years haha! & were married April 3rd in NYC. She ordered these vintage-styled postcards on Etsy and sent them away to friends and family! I'm part of the family, so of course I got one HAHA! If you'd like to read more about her wedding and how it came to be, check out her post here. It's a heavy picture post with lots of reviews. Super magical!

Ari Stumbles | 7

These are a few of my favorite things this week.

20 things you probably missed from Game of Thrones when watching it for the first time. The first one blew my mind.

Funny article on why all of our State flags are wrong. I bet you'll laugh and agree with your flags caption.

Have you heard about the new Peanuts movie? Watch the trailer here.

I think these corner protectors were made mostly for kids but I think they're cute.

Watch these Golden Retriever puppies running to eat dinner in a time-lapse video between the ages 20 wks to 46 wks.

I ordered my first tee (Guardians of the Burger) from Ript Apparel and I'm hoping it's fantastical so I can order more. They cost $11+s&h the day they come out and then $16+s&h afterwards.

I found this Buzzfeed article about the veggie life to be quite informative.
The veggie life has been talked about a few times at Casa de Reed but we haven't made the move.

I recently found out about this new gadget Amazon is selling called the Echo. It's similar to Apple's Siri but it's in a can haha! Definitely interested in checking this out.

Are you familiar with the Kukur Tihar? It's part of the Hindu festival Tihar and the second day is devoted to spoiling the hizzie out of dogs. It happens in November but it's been making its rounds on the internet now. I'm thinking it's because of all the drama that is happening in China over the dog eating festival. I won't get into that (you already know how I feel about dogs) because there is a lot of controversy surrounding it.

And a bonus.. Finally the U.S. Supreme court decided in ruling same-sex marriages legal nationwide. This is a HUGE step & I couldn't be prouder of my country!

Have a fantastical weekend!
See you Monday with a recap of my weekend

The Paper Files | 2 - ban.do

Today I'm sharing the new beauty in my life, a 17-month ban.do planner. I know the year isn't over and I still have many more months on the Kate Spade planner but I couldn't help myself. The plan is to use the KS planner until the end of the year and start the ban.do planner next year but I doubt i'll be able to contain myself haha! I like the idea of 12+ months added to planners but I think that only works for people who aren't obsessed with paper/planners. For those of us who are obsessed, it kind of breaks our heart that so many pages go to waste entersadfacehere This will be a heavy picture post and I cannot apologize for it because PAPER! Haha!

Let's break this planner down a bit.. it's 17 months, starting Aug. 2015 to Dec. 2016. This year they are carrying the small planner (5.5 in. x 8.5 in.) like before and a new large spiral-bound planner (8 in. x 10 in.) with a beautiful floral print similar to the small planner. The small planner comes in three colors.. White & Gold, a beautiful floral print and a pink one with the words 'I am very busy' on the cover. The first thing that caught my attention with this planner was that it has a pocket in the back. I like the idea of putting random notes or snail mail stamps in there and knowing that it's safe. There are random inspirational quotes and funny compliments that will definitely put a smile on your face. Another thing that caught my eye is how colorful the pages are. The first page of every month is so colorful and creative that I'm sure they would work perfectly in some scrap pages once I'm done with it. Every month also has two pages of notes for those things you just have to remember. Stickers, did I mention these yet? Yes, stickers are included & they are freaking awesome! I'll probably end up hoarding & never using them because that's what you're supposed to do, right? Haha! Color coded monthly tabs, elastic band closure, really cool holidays, a secret girl code and even great tips for weekend activities.

Now you know I love Kate Spade but ban.do suits me better. It's colorful, loud, hilarious and in the perfect price range for me! $20 for the small and $28 for the large. Not to mention all the other goodies they have for sale like pens, sticky notes, greeting cards, pencil pouches and so much more.

Alright, let's move on to what you came for..

Project Life | Wk 18

Today I'm sharing Week 18 of my Project Life. I normally print out my pictures before I get the colors and cards set up. In this weeks case I forgot to print my pictures as bordered instead of border-less. I prefer them to be bordered so that nothing is missing from the picture and I can keep the white border if I choose to do so. I almost printed the pictures over but I didn't want to waste these.

Since my pictures are so big, I didn't need to pick cards (whew!) which made it easier to put together. I used lots of stickers and did my normal journaling. Journaling that isn't too private so I can share it with you. I write really sloppy when I write fast.. I write fast because it's my least favorite part of Project Life. I enjoy printing the pictures & picking the stickers/embellishments the most.

This week Mama Carrizo & I enjoyed a fun baby shower where she double fisted some Peanut M&M's (my fav) and a beer in the other hand. My Hero! E & I worked on some succulent plants (which are dead now haha!) Finnashit killed another toy. Chula enjoyed the warmth of my lap while I caught up on my shows. Mama Carrizo & I had lunch at Chuy's for the first time. Definitely recommend the grub & the service was great too!

BTW -> Today is Mama Carrizo's 21st birthday, hahaha!!

Cards: One card from the Midnight Edition Core Kit (affiliate) & the back of a random card.
Stamps: Studio Calico's number clear stamps for the week number.

Weekend Snapshots | 24

Today's post is brought to you by Finnashit, Leana Little, Remidog and E's pale legs haha! I didn't leave my house all weekend. That means it was an awesome weekend in my Jammies at Casa de Reed. E & the kids were able to replicate the same position on the couch Friday through Sunday. It's too hot to hang out outside these days.. especially since the rain has made it ridiculously humid. Finnashit got a new collar because he's still growing? E bought a neon green one because it was cheap. Finnashit and I would like to boycott this color haha!

E went grocery shopping last week Gasp! and bought grapes. I didn't find them until a couple of days ago. Thankfully, they weren't bad so you know I tore them up! Even brought some to work this morning!

Sunday consisted of eggs, lil' smokies and Pillsbury croissants. Can't forget the Simply Orange with Pineapple, mmm! We like to make a delicious breakfast on at least one day of the weekend. Sunday was my day. I swear it's supposed to be egg with lil' smokies, not the other way around but I love smokies so there's always an exaggerated amount when I cook. The kids get a couple here & there because the puppy faces kill me!

Thinking of starting a new hashtag, #jaysleeps or something similar. She has the funniest positions in the weirdest spots. This weekend was no different. I guess she feels she has seniority and uses two of the beds when she sleeps. Yeah, she did that shit multiple times this weekend.

I hope Kate Spade and them aren't mad at me but I gave in and bought a ban.do Planner. I bought it online because it seemed easier & they gave me a 10% discount wink New post on this & how I feel about it will be up this week. Promise!

I look at my timehop every morning and found one that cracked me up from three years ago. No clue who made that one but I went ahead and made one myself... and I'm sharing it with you!! The 'free download' link will take you to a download screen in my Dropbox. If you use it on IG, mind tagging me so I can have random daily laughs? Use @a_shankasaurus. Muchos thanks <3

Wednesday Letters | 1

Today I'm sharing letters from me to someone/thing. My friend Connie does Friday Letters & I've always been a fan. Since I like to change shit up, I picked today to share my first one. Wednesday seems like a good day to write these letters since it's the middle of the week.. so here we go..

Dear Rain,
Texas would highly appreciate it if you'd stop. Not for a couple of minutes or hours.. but just stop. For like a month, please.

I've been a fan since I can remember and I just want you to know that you will always by my #1 fast-food place. Your burgers are big and the fries are always just right. Thank you for sharing your love <3

Dear People of Houston,
Please use your blinkers, we are not psychic.
Please don't drive in "puddles" of water that seem safe, you should know better by now.
Please stop breeding dogs & please stop releasing your dog in neighborhoods hoping that they will find a better home. It will not happen. (Houston's homeless dog population is 1.2 million. Yes, I said million).

Dear Bossman,
Thanks for the raise :)

Dear iPhone 5,
I truly love you & refuse to upgrade but I can see your guts and its really worrying me. Please magically glue yourself together so we can continue to live a beautiful life together.

That's it for now. Happy Hump Day, everyone! :)

P.S. If I'm not here, I'm posting stuff on Facebook. Won't ya follow me? ;)

Project Life - Wk 17

Today I'm sharing Week 17 of my Project Life. I used two colorful cards and then the back of some cards I didn't like. On those cards, I used a roller stamp (that I think I got in a Studio Calico kit) as the background. I almost went with more coloring but I really like my layouts to have a lot of white (empty) space. I feel like more journaling is needed in this layout but I'll leave it like this for now..

This week I'm sharing a bit of the Austin trip where I attended the MS150 ride my husband was in. I also got to meet up with Jessica, a good friend from Austin <3 We thoroughly enjoyed our resort time & the beautiful trees! I'm also sharing a picture of my workspace as I get my PL done and a picture of the ice cream section at Krogers with no BlueBell Ice Cream. We miss you so, so much! Hurry back please. Texas just isn't the same.

Cards: Back of cards I didn't like :)
Stamps: Heidi Swapp roller stampStudio Calico's number clear stamps for the week number & a roller stamp that might be SC too, and Elise's 'Today is' rubber stamp

Weekend Snapshots | 23

Today's post is brought you by the sweet bounce house at the awesome baby shower Mama Carrizo and I attended on Saturday. I have no excuse as to why I only posted Weekend Snapshots last week.. it mostly has to do with not having enough time to post. On to other things..

Mama Carrizo went to my childhood friends baby shower. I've known her since 8th grade and even though we've gone months to years without seeing each other, when we get together it's like we've never missed a beat. It was nice to see her Mama and her kids after so long. The games always crack me up in baby showers cause they are so outrageous Lol! They wrapped toilet paper around my bum to make a diaper. I swear we should have won that game but the other team used props that totally made it look like a real diaper haha!

I found this little pink dog sweater in the dog closet (yes, my kids have their own closet with towels and shit) with the word "Wag" on it and tried it on Chula the Chi. She wasn't too excitamated at first but now I think she's happy with it. The kid sniffing her after the cut is Finnashit. He loves being in every bodies personal bubble haha!

As with humans who sleep in their old age, dogs do the same when they get up there in age. Jay sleeps probably 18 hours of the day and I cannot blame her for it. If I had two humans that catered to me, I'd be sleeping my butt off too. Cracks me up that even though she has 8 different places to lay her fatty butt in, she still chooses to use door frames/wall as her pillow.

My craft area has changed a lot since we moved into Casa de Reed in November. I'm sure all craft areas change regularly but I think I finally nailed it this time. I have enough space on the desk to get my shit done and enough trays and such for all the goodies. The hanging lights are from Ikea, of course. I found a sweet light for my computer desk and think I should have bought a second one for my craft desk, lighting is important when crafting.

I'm sad I didn't take more pictures at the baby shower. Mostly because I forgot to take one with my friend sadface but I did get one of her and another friend's daughter as they measured the toilet paper around the belly. <3 The correct number was 10 and that's exactly the number I had but I missed the tie breaker competition and totally didn't win shit sadfaceagain

Last picture is of my boys. Being lazy asses as usual on the weekend. Still trying to figure out a way to let the light in through our big Living Room window without Remidog going ape shit when someone walks or drives by. Last owners had several window dividers that E and I are seriously considering. I also thought of maybe getting Plantation shutters for just the bottom portion but I'm not sure it'll look right so it's still just an idea.

Weekend Snapshots | 22

The weekend consisted of lots of laughs, good food with great company! That cake above is a chocolate mousse cake with strawberries and double stuffed Oreos. Before you ask, YES it was glorious! It's my understanding that the cake was made by one of the guests at my friend's cumple yesterday. I can't imagine what it might be like to live with this lady.. I mean, can I get an amazing cake like this once a month, please?! Haha!

Let's rewind to Saturday.. Finnashit was his usual self. His obsession with being all in your face or sitting on your grill (er, face?) never gets old as you can see below. He's cute so we kind of let it go. He won't always be cute, though..

Did a little Homegoods shopping with Mama Carrizo & saw the colorful sign. When we left I regretted not buying it. Peanut to my butter totally won me over. sigh Maybe I can find something similar somewhere else or I can attempt to make one. Gasp! Mama Carrizo hooked up her favorite & oldest grandpup, Jay, with a new round bed. One that Jay wasn't shy about getting cozy in. Her siblings have been confiscating it though, or at least Leana Little is. Little brat thinks everything is hers.

After shopping with Mama Carrizo I came home to work on my dining chairs. I bought some cute fabric months ago and never did anything. It's that out of sight, out of mind type thang I guess. See, I first saw this fabric at my friend Jessica's casa over a year ago and loved it. Come to find out she bought it at Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby and I used to be friends so it wasn't a problem to buy from there. Should be noted that HL & I are no longer friends thanks to all their shenanigans. So on Saturday I asked E to help me with removing the stubborn nails so that I could do the damn thing. I only changed two but that's because I was ready to sit my ass down on the couch and watch Sense8 on Netflix. Have you watched it yet?

Sunday evening was fantastical! I got the chance to meet a super chill baby girl named Maddie! She is guilty of waking up my biological clock & you know what, I don't hate her for it haha! Her mama graciously invited me over to meet her & celebrate her dad's cumpleaƱos! Not only did I get to hold Miss. Chubby Cheeks but I got to grub on some nomtastic homemade burgers & enjoy a lot of laughs with mostly strangers. Those are the best parties, in my opinion. You may be strangers at the beginning of the event but you end up serious homies by the end of the night.

Netflix Original Series | Grace & Frankie

Today I'm sharing a Netflix Original- Grace & Frankie featuring Lily Tomlin & Jane Fonda. Once again, Netflix came through with another show with 13 episodes that will leave you highly entertained. Grace & Frankie is written by Marta Kauffman (co-creator of Friends) and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement) and was available for streaming on Netflix May 9th. I finished the series last night and was left wanting mucho more! I mean, the desire to watch season two is ridiculously high!!

The story goes like this... Grace (Jane Fonda) is married to Robert (Martin Sheen) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) is married to Sol (Sam Waterson). Both husbands are successful divorce lawyers in San Diego, while Grace is retired and Frankie is a hippie art teacher. In the first episode the guys invite the ladies for dinner to reveal a truth that has been bothering them for over 20 years. The ladies on the other hand think that the guys are going to reveal that they are retiring.

Project Life | Wk 16

Today I'm sharing Week 16 of my Project Life. Theme is once again Black & White with a bit of a dark reddish color. I wanted to use scrap paper again like the last two layouts but I couldn't decide on what color to use.

This week wasn't a very exciting until the weekend when E & I went to Austin for his MS150 bike marathon. Before all that though I did my first So Fab campaign with Snickers! One I was super nervous about but extremely excitamated about :) I did another #aristumbles series which is going well. Not that folks are talking about it or anything I wish! but I'm enjoying it! I laughed my butt off when I noticed how many shanks (knives) Mama Carrizo has on display in her Kitchen. No clue if she uses them all but I think it's pretty funny since my nick is Shankasaurus haha! I then included some pictures from the beginning of our Austin trip. Beautiful view from our bedroom, the room, tasty dessert, E putting the robe on immediately after we arrived and a silly picture of me because why not haha!!

Note: I didn't cover up my journaling this week because it wasn't too personal Yay! and also there are no pictures of my kids this week Gasp!

Stamps: Heidi Swapp roller stamp & Studio Calico's number clear stamps for the week number

Weekend Snapshots | 22

Today's post is brought to you by my Canon SELPHY (affiliate), who I adore so so much! Sister-Santa hooked me up a couple years ago and I've been printing pictures like crazy ever since. Mostly for my Project Life, which is where the picture printing above was for.

This weekend was a mix of rain and hardcore humidity. Gotta love Houston, right?! :) E & I hit our fav Mexican place for some nomtastic goodies on Saturday. We knew heavy rainfall was on the way but we took the chance anyways. It wasn't that big a deal to us because we could literally walk to our casa from how close it is.

I got some new Project Life goodies so of course, I played a bit with those. I finished up another week in my Project Life and although I'm far behind, I'm still happy with it all. It also puts a huge smile on my face to look at the pages I've already completed.

I ordered some new wipers for Fancypants that came in on Sunday which was very surprising. Hope my mailman doesn't hate me for making him work on Sunday. Then again, he keeps bending my favorite magazines so whatevs!

We ended the weekend with some cuddle time on the couch. E & I can't cuddle because there's always a hairy little kid in the middle of us. Thankfully, we have a big sectional couch that has room for the whole family :) The weather folks say we're gonna have a somewhat dry week.. hope they aren't lying to us. We've had entirely too much rain and I don't think our city could handle more.
