Today's post (rather tonight's post) is brought to you by the marathon my husband was in over the weekend. He was a part of the two day BP MS150 bike marathon from Houston to Austin by the National MS Society. Due to the rain, the first day was cancelled and my husband was among many that were incredibly sad about it. But day two was amazing and really made the storm look like a punk!
This is the second MS150 marathon he's been in and the first one I attended. I can't even begin to explain how affected my feels were throughout the entire day and I didn't even ride. This ride is the largest event of it's kind in North America with 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers and countless spectators along the route and at the finish line in Austin. The 2-day ride is a 180-mile journey that starts in Houston and ends in Austin. That's right, they start in Houston and finish in Austin. Effing CRAZY!!
I was so touched by this event that I told my husband that I think I'd like to train in hopes of riding next year. I'm not sure if he took my seriously. TBH, I'm not sure I took myself seriously. Haha! We all know how lazy and non-active I am but this event did something to me. I am currently ISO a bike. A good light one that's cheap. Wish me luck!
We were lucky enough to stay at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Lost Pines, Texas. Middle of freaking nowhere type resort. It was refreshing to be out there with clear air that was filled with bugs. Haha! No, it was truly a great experience. This resort is like its own little town with delicious dining, huge fire pits, pools, Starbucks, golfing and a freaking ice cream parlor! I'm so ready for next year!!
One of the highlights from the Reedasaurus Adventure yeah, I not only called it that but I hashtagged it, HA! was seeing my good friend, Jessica. She lives in Austin and its been quite a while since I've seen her. Like many of my good friends, I met Jessica online through a mutual friend. I later met her in person and our friendship has massively grown. She's a dog lover too! She's good people and I know it's completely true because she hung out in the heat with me during the MS150. The struggle was ridiculously real Sunday!
The fourth picture from the bottom is probably one of my favorite pictures from the resort. We didn't spend much time there during the day because of the event but at night it was so beautiful. This shot was taken with my husband's iPhone 6+ and it's most definitely not the best picture, but it's grainy and I love the lighting in the trees.
The very last picture is of my husband's company team, Team Mostyn Law. These folks did a fantastical job raising and riding for the cause. So proud to have met these folks! See ya next year!
Best part about all of this is that the fundraising isn't over. If you'd like to make a donation and read why my husband, Elliott, rode this year.. Please visit this link.
Cheers to another week!
