Friday Love 02.27.15 | Tep No

Today I'm sharing some Friday Love with one of my loves, Music. Music has a way of getting inside your heart and soul like nothing else. I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music - Billy Joel It can inspire and motivate you yet can still have you crying in the fetal position on your bed. It's freeing and dreamy yet harsh and sometimes too honest. Which is why my recent music crush is this refreshing & intoxicating artist I found on Spotify, Tep No. Shout out to Spotify for leading me to music my soul adores!

I don't know what Tep No looks like or even how old he is because the interwebs lacks info on him. I do know he's a young producer from Toronto who according to his Facebook, is very appreciative of his fans. Tep No's Soundcloud has 15+ songs and about 10 on Spotify. I also know folks are talking about him on Twitter but frankly I can't believe he only has 22 followers. And now I sound like a stalker haha!

Project Life | Wk 8

Today I'm sharing Week 8 of my Project Life. I have to be honest with you and tell you that I am pretty shocked & happy that I am still keeping up with this. And not just keeping up with it, but I am on schedule too. One page instead of two really makes a difference. Or at least for me it does. Like I said before, it's not as overwhelming.

This week I kept it super simple with the colors. I used my favorite core kit, Midnight Edition. I don't think I've told you but this is the best kit when it comes to keeping it simple. The colors are minimal which means your colored pictures will stand out more. Because the colors are minimal, you're not overly excited to want to use them all at once, haha! This is the first kit I bought when I bought my 12x12 binder. As you can tell, my blog is pretty much black and white with a hint of color in my pictures. I dress the same way. My gadgets are all black and even my car is black. I like black and white because it matches everything. You can't go wrong.

Ikea Goodies | Paper+Plants+Storage

Today's post is brought to you by dinosaurs that live on my desk. Tiny little toy dinosaurs that Photojojo sent me a while back with my orders. Muchos thanks for the sweet desk companions. <3

Last week's Casa de Reed Wishlist had me aching, yes aching, to hit IKEA up. So of course when my mom and sister called me Monday and asked me if I wanted to go somewhere & hang out.. I couldn't hold my excitement when saying IKEA! I met the ladies there and we got to work.

When I'm alone at IKEA, I tend to go straight to what I need/want and get the hizzie out of there fast. IKEA in Houston is pretty much always packed and it makes me super panicky shrugs Since we weren't in a hurry and it wasn't crowded, we took a stroll through every dept as my sister took pictures of the awesome deco.

Initially I was there for some artificial plants and I wanted to check out this side table and this one as well. Thanks to my fantastical luck, the first table was out of stock and the second one was too small for the wall I wanted it for. This is the third time I realllllly want to buy a piece of furniture and it's out of stock. I can't begin to tell you how frustrated this made me but I woosahed and called it a day.

Weekend Snapshots | 8

Today's post is brought to you by my attempt at a selfie with my crazy kid, Finnashit. I took a million pictures and this is the best we came up with. Practice makes perfect though so we will be trying again. :)

This weekend consisted of lots of family selfies (see below), eating and some decorating. We finally put up all of our Gabe Leonard prints and it made us realize that we need more stat. The first picture after the break is my favorite of the prints we have. See, it desperately needs a side table (see previous post) but it'll do for now.

I celebrated the weekend by having a sweet mimosa. Best part? E doesn't like them so I get to drink it alllll by myself :) I made a super duper tasty breakfast Sunday but because I was starving and the kids were trying to eat my grub, I swallowed it all before I could take a picture, haha!

E says we can't have nice things due to our kids sitting, sleeping, eating, throwing up or pooping on it. He has a great point but how can you tell your kids no when they look so sweet and precious? Remidog took over our Ikea chairs within a week of moving in with us. Little Man Finn will post up anywhere as long as it's soft and weird.. Hence him sleeping on the back cushion of the couch.

The last picture is our family selfie. I told E about my experience trying to take a selfie with Finnashit. He said it would be super easy with the two boys so he called Remidog and Finnashit and gave it a shot. Yeah, it didn't work so I jumped on his back to keep the boys still.. and then Leana Little's antisocial ass got in the picture looking super awkward as usual, haha! But the picture came out funny so we kept it. Have you taken a selfie with your kids? 4-legged, not 2-legged.. then again, I'm sure taking a selfie w a young 2-legged kid is pretty tough too.

Friday Love 02.20.15 | Casa de Reed Wishlist

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5+a/b

Today I'm sharing five things on the Casa de Reed Wishlist. We bought our casa about three months ago and we're still in love with it. Only thing that annoys us is the wall colors. Super light yellow in our living room, green in our kitchen, and the worse one.. a dark maroon-purpleish color on one wall in our bedroom. Which happens to be the wall our bed is on. smh But these walls will be painted someday so it's no biggie.

This wishlist includes five things that will enhance our already lovely casa. I chose the Ikea mirror because I've been eyeballing it for years. It's $100 and I know I'd love it more and more everyday... but it's still $100. The paper towel gadget charger is on our list because duh! it's a charger and you can dry your hands at the same time. Oh, and the top is a wine stopper! The wood (maybe rustic) headboard is a DIY that I bet a lot of folks are interested in doing. (Pinterest said so). The image isn't from the DIY link because she made hers with a darker stain but her DIY is easy and I hope to try it out very soon (I'm in love w her blog). The side table is something I've wanted to buy for a while. I mean I've wanted a side table for our entrance (even our last house) for a while but I found this one online a few weeks ago. I like the mix of materials and the top spikes remind me of Game of Thrones LOL! The plants are something that we think would look nice in our casa, real or fake. Floor plants are what we're worried about though. We don't want our boys lifting their legs, yanno? Someday we'll buy one and see how it goes. Wish us luck :)

I'll see ya Monday with a recap of my weekend on Weekend Snapshots :)

Have a fantastical weekend!

Project Life | Wk 7

Today I'm sharing Week 7, for real this time Haha! This weeks color is pink.. can you guess why? :D The pretty paper from last week with the attach-me stickers was perfect for week 6 with the flowery colors. I didn't realize the color on the other side was pink until I started working on it. So, the color scheme worked perfectly for me.

This week is the week of love so I included lots of pinkish/redish colors and the pictures of nomtastic Valentine's goodies. I changed it up a bit on the journaling part. Normally, I would have a note for every day of the week. This week I chose to write beautiful things that happened this week.. with no dates. I'm looking forward to doing that from now on.

Workspace Wednesday

If you're crafty in any way, chances are your workspace changes a lot. My workspace is no different.

A while back the Raskog cart from Ikea became a HUGE thing on IG (possibly other places too). It was a must have and still is. As a matter of fact, the price is down to $29 from $70, I think. My cart has seen a numerous changes as well and I'm still not happy with how it sits. I found this article on Apartment Therapy on how useful the Raskog cart can be in various rooms and I'm contemplating buying a few more ;)

I keep the basics on my desk like my writing utensils in two Target $1 buckets. Blue box holds my embellishments, alpha stickers and random goodies from my Studio Calico kits. Little white baskets hold my stamps, clear and wood. I have this black overlay on my desk because I can't stand writing on a table with no cushion. No clue where I got it, probably a thrift store. I keep a journal on my desk for random thoughts. I have a lamp now but it's not doing the job so I'll probably be in the market for a new one.

My craft desk faces a window to my backyard. It's nice to have it open on pretty days like today. It also lets me keep an eye out on my crazy kids. I have random card stock on my desk because of Valentine's Day. I was making goodies and because I have so many sheets of card stock, the search can be a bit overwhelming. I'm thinking of cutting some to use as PL cards so that I don't continue hoarding. I guess hoarding is part of the craft world LOL!

Weekend Snapshots | 7

Today's post is brought to you by alphabet stickers from a past Studio Calico kit. I really should sign back up for the monthly subscription but I'm just not ready. It's not cheap and I know it's totally worth it but.. sigh maybe later, later. ;)

This weekend had a sweet day in it. Valentine's Day! Mine went pretty smoothly. E & I decided not to go all out for Valentine's because our wedding anniversary is 10 days later. Instead what we do is get each other a sweet card (preferably DIY) and dinner for Valentine's day and then go all out for our anniversary.

This years dinner was Domino's Pizza, which when you think about it shouldn't surprise anyone. Definitely didn't surprise me when he suggested it. I don't like the acid reflux it gives me but.. I love pizza. Pizza, pasta, chicken and lava cakes? Yeah, it can be pretty hard to say no sometimes.. sometimes!

My card to E was definitely a DIY. I used the Silhouette again to write the words Your Face and then the stickers for I like that shit. The stickers are pink and white and the card is red.. figured those three colors would work for this holiday ;) I added some candy coated pretzels with the card. It's the DIY noms from my Valentine's Day On the Cheap post here. The sprinkles thing went well but the actual candy melt was tough. Practice makes perfect though, right?!

I pulled out the DSLR yesterday to take some shots of the kids. I have so many of them on my phone but hardly ever pull a real camera out so this was fun. The timing is crap, haha! But I think it's funny I got Remidog's butt in a shot and then later Chula's butt. LOL!

Project Life | Wk 6

Today I'm sharing Week 6, not week 7, of Project Life. Apparently, I've been too excitamated about this project and I got ahead of myself. I changed the 7 to a 6 but didn't think it was worth taking another picture so.. just think week 6!

I added some pictures from my Weekend Snapshots because why not, right? I also added a second page with some stickers by BasicGrey. Follow the link below to check it out. :)

Valentine's Day | On the Cheap

made with canva

Today's post is about cheap or cheaper ways to show some love on Valentine's Day. Did you know that the average buyer spends about $116.21 for Valentine's Day? I didn't know that or these other statistics like the average annual Valentine's Day spending is $13.19 billion. I don't know if this is based just in the US or if it's worldwide, but that sure is a lot of cashola.

Spending on your special someone is great! Who doesn't like fancy things, right? But this day isn't about money. It's about love! Share your love with sweet gifts from the heart not just your wallet.

Weekend Snapshots | 6

Today's post is brought to you by the famous Remidog from The Remi Project. K, so he's not all that famous but lots of kids have been rescued under a project named after him and that makes him famous in their hearts! :) Isn't he a handsome fellow? He really has come a long way from the day he rescued us. <3

I'm keeping up with Project Life for a couple hours on Sundays and I'm really enjoying it. What I did this Sunday was figure out a way to organize my PL cards. Not necessarily by kit but by color. I like to mix and match my kits but not the colors so much. I really enjoy making my layouts with very few colors. The cards aren't completely organized yet, it's sort of a work in progress.

A month or so ago I finally organized my office bookcases. I've always wanted to have my books organized by color and now I do. I mean, look at this picture or this article on Apartment Therapy. It looks so neat and uniformed, right?

Fancypants got a much-needed hand wash this weekend. She enjoys E's hands on her but he needs a rest sometimes too yanno. The folks at Kingsland Car Wash hooked her up and were so freaking thorough. Definitely worth the $25 for an inside and outside clean. Plus they were all very polite and friendly. That's a major plus when you handle my Fancypants.

No, we didn't trade any of our cars in for a fast ass Charger. Cousin Bubba came over to change the oil and I snapped a picture. Having a garage has so many perks. I don't think I'll ever be able to live in a place that doesn't have a garage and a backyard. I'm a suburbs chick, I can't help it.

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my margarita picture on Saturday. I'm not much of a margarita drinker. I have them occasionally when it's been a good day or a special get together. Saturday definitely deserved one so when E and I hit up our favorite Mexican joint for an early dinner, I knew exactly what fruity drink I would ask for.

A while back I bought a little book. It's called Shit Happens So Get Over It by Summersdale. It's full of inspirational quotes that will make you laugh and applaud at the same time. It's been a very useful book for me when bad shit happens. I'm sure you agree with the picture I took from the book.. it really is all small stuff. No need to sweat it, yanno :)

Project Life | Wk 5

This post should have been up yesterday but it was a busy day in Ariville & it slipped my mind..

Week 5 is done and we're moving on to the next one. I kept this weeks layout pretty basic. I thought of adding some embellishments but I didn't want to crowd the pictures. My selfie game is still pretty strong & so is Leana Little's. She's always been a pro at selfies, haha! This week had a couple of nice days where the sky was close to being a Royal Blue so those pictures were a must.

Since we moved to the new casa, we've been using our bath tub like crazy. Salts and smell goods are not only relaxing but a great stress reliever. I'm looking into trying out Lush Bath Bombs real soon. I like what the company is doing with their products. No animal testing, 100% vegetarian, handmade and naked packaging!

Finn and Jayla love to be lazy kids. Jay, as usual, likes to lay in beds that she knows are too small for her. Who am I to tell her otherwise, right? Finn lays his skinny butt just about anywhere including our couch pillows. The couch pillows that are all jacked up cause he won't sit on a couch like a normal dog, haha!

I took a strange selfie this week. A cute puppy butt during a car ride. Am I taking the selfie game too far? LOL! I don't think so! I've been a fan of Scentsy and the waxes but they just don't compare to candles. My candle stash is getting a bit large but I rather hoard them then use them.. that is until I turn them on and Casa de Reed smells glorious!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Weekend Snapshots | 5

Today's post is brought to you by our door stopper dog that continuously gets chewed on by Finn. Haha! He's a cute door stopper that we just had to have but it didn't cross our minds that our youngest would love him even more.

The weekend in Houston was pretty warm and dry. Thankfully. Houstonians never know what season we're in unless someone mentions it because our weather is a bit bipolar. No complaints here though. As long as its not 85 degrees+, I am a happy camper.

We did some much needed yard work (& poop scooping) this weekend. Definitely not our favorite but its different now that we're homeowners. A lot is different now. There's a sense of pride and happiness when we're done doing yardwork.. so it's not too bad.

We had our first BBQ at Casa de Reed. It wasn't planned nor did we have lots of guests. My brother in law was in town so we invited him to come hang out and watch the game. I'm extremely sad that the Seahawks didn't win. I felt like they had a good season but something was a bit off in this game. It was a very close call and super entertaining, plus the halftime show was awesome. The visual effects were ridiculous and boy did I get excitamated when Missy came out. I won't mention all the young'ns on random social media that had no idea who she was and even had the nerve to say that Katy was helping Missy become big. Haysoos. Do people not use Google as much anymore? LOL!

As planned, I worked on my PL for week 5 and I'm still as excited as I expected.

As soon as the game was over, I posted a picture of the Houston Texans helmets. I mean, it's not too soon to start rooting for your team, right?!

Find me on Instagram to see all the hilarious meme's I had to post after the halftime show. I couldn't help myself, haha!
