I Watch A Lot of TV - Shameless

All images found on Google

My DVR and I are the bestest of friends. Like many of you, I watch various shows about the most random shit. What I've been trying to catch up on right now is a show on Showtime called Shameless. There's a UK version and a US version. I watched a couple of episodes of the US series and then forgot all about it. Then I caught an episode of the UK version on Netflix and couldn't get into it. Something about the accent and the characters already being introduced to me differently kept me away from it. About a month ago I started watching the US version again and now I can't stop watching it. It's a complete trainwreck but entertaining..

The series is based off a crappy drunk father Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) and his dysfuntional family of six kids who do whatever they can to survive. Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum) is the oldest and has dedicated her life to her five siblings. She didn't graduate High School and her jobs are pretty shady. Then there's Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl and 2 year old Liam who is black despite having two white parents due to a recessive black gene the Gallagher's acquired from Frank's grandmother, who (allegedly) had an affair with a jazz musician LOL!

The shit that happens is pretty weird. It's shit you wouldn't expect and shit that makes you say, "Damn these people are all types of messed up." They really are shameless folks but I guess when you're in the situations they get into.. you'd have to be shameless to survive.

When I said this show is a train wreck, I was being dead serious. I'm thinking shows like this make it because there's so many of us that have no idea what it's like living like that and it's interesting to see how people like this survive. What's wild to me is that the way this family is living isn't far fetched from how a lot of American families are surviving. The thought of putting myself in say Fiona's shoes for a day is kind of scary to me. Lip once said something along the lines of in order to survive you have to lie, cheat, or steal because poor people can't survive any other way. Makes me wonder what the life of the Gallagher's would be like if Frank and Monica (the mother) stepped up as responsible parents and handled their business...

I'm on the last couple of episodes of Season 3, almost caught up to Season 4 that is now playing. If you're on the look for a new show, I recommend Shameless.

Weekend Snapshots - 3rd Weekend in January

Preview of the first week in Project Life - So stoked to start this.
Buenos Aires T-shirt I almost bought at Playto's Closet if it wasn't all holey at the bottom.
Stopped by Petsmart in Sugarland to pick up dog food and as usual, I checked out the adoption center. It always puts a smile on my face to see these numbers grow :]
Comfy Payless shoes I can't get enough of.
Lots and lots of colors at Playto's closet.

New & Thrifted Goodies

I found the black muffin cooking tray for $.25 at a thrift store. I spray painted it with primer first and then black to put my crafting goodies in it. I could have done a better job with the painting but I figured it would get beat up during usage so no big deal.

I found the blue star for my washi tape at the thrift store too. It was $4 and it's pretty heavy. I didn't know what I would use it for until I brought it home. I'm a big fan of stars so I knew I'd find a home for it fast.

Added the Studio Calico wood veneers to my collection along with Project Life Maggie Holmes Flea Market edition and some sweet clear stamps. A couple of months ago I started doing Project Life in a 6x6 binder instead of a 12x12 binder. I did this because I wasn't sure if I would like the idea and using the Simple Stories collection instead of the Becky Higgins Project Life collection was way cheaper. I tried that for a couple of weeks and found myself really enjoying it. I went ahead and purchased the Simple Stories 12x12 binder in Teal and I've finished my cover page, still working on finishing week one. I'm pretty excited to see my progress after a month or two. It doesn't take much to put it all together. You don't have to be "creative" or know what you're doing.. you kind of just go with the flow. Some folks do it in order, some skip around.. that's the beauty of it. You can do whatever you want to it. Hope to share that with you as soon as I get more progress done.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Planner Found - Mission Accomplished

I've been on a mission to find the perfect planner for 2014. I spent a lot of time searching for the Kate Spade planner I talked about in this post. I found it at a random online retailer, paid for it and even paid the extra mula for next day shipping. I waited for the email letting me know it was shipped and it never arrived. I emailed two days later asking what the hizzie happened. Apparently they were sold out and had not updated their merchandise so I received a full refund. Bastards.

I had no choice but to reevaluate the two planners I already had, which are the two above. Both purchased at Tarjay because we all know it's the best place ever. The left one is a Greenroom Planner that I bought on sale for $8 and the right one is a Sugar Plum planner that I bought for $10. They both are very nice and perfect for what I would be using them for.

The noticeable difference are the monthly tabs on the Sugar Plum planner. They are laminated and on the Greenroom planner they're not. The Greenroom planner has more room to write notes which is good for me cause we all know I'm a rambler :) So I'm using the Greenroom planner and moving on. Mission accomplished LOL!

Here's to a fantastical new year!!

TGIF everyone!

2014 Planners/Agendas

2014 Planners/Agenda

A while back I bought a planner from Target by Sugar Paper. It looks similar to the spiral planners on this page. It's a nice little planner but I'm not really convinced that it will work for me. Last year I tried the Filofax planner and although I love my Gator Finsbury.. I don't like how small it is. The A5's are gorgeous but way too pricey.

The other day Breonna from Brewrites.com posted a picture on Instagram of her new Kate Spade planner. She loves everything Kate Spade and I don't blame her :) I went on a search for one of the four Kate Spade planners that look pretty nice. The one I like is the one on the top left above. The only one that isn't sold out is the one on the top right above. I'm not into roses or pink shit so of course that's not going to work for me. I thought about getting it and maybe covering it up with something else using mod podge.. but I'm not sure what the material feels like and if it would work out or not. I like the idea of a spiral book like Kate Spade's planners.

Since I've been searching for a good planner, I came across all the ones above and figured I'd share in case you were in the same boat as me. Do you use a planner or agenda to keep you in check daily?! If so, what do you have or did you make your own?! As usual, Pinterest is a good place to find some templates.

Happy First Friday of the year!

..till next time ;]
