Trader Joe's Again..

Yes, I went to Trader Joe's again and I really must not go alone. It's getting a tad bit out of hand. First visit was $42 and this visit was $86. Is it going to keep going up as I get more familiar with all the food or what?! I fall for the simplest shizz too. There was a dude giving out samples of the Trader Joe's buttermilk pancake mix and the syrup. Of course I never say no to free food so I was all excitamated to try it Lol! After tasting the nomnom-ness I just HAD to buy it. Whoever came up with giving samples at grocery stores is a GENIUS!!

On my first Trader Joe's post some of you commented with what you like to buy so I bought some of your recommendations and a bit more Lol. Check it out..

A Moveable Feast for the Houston Food Bank

A Moveable Feast was a hit in our bellies Saturday! 6 trucks with different types of food and friendly faces inside the trucks made it worth while. Not to mention it was for a great cause - The Houston Food Bank.

Shop Small Business Saturday!

Happy Saturday everyone! In case you didn't know, today is Shop Small Business Saturday! Also, if you're in Houston today and have nothing to do. Come join the Moveable Feast down on Westheimer. 6 food trucks are competing to see who can collect the most non-perishables for the Houston Food Bank so don't forget to bring some! This ends at 3pm so hurry! I'm heading there right now.

Trader Joe's

Paper bag that held my groceries ;p

A couple of months ago Houston opened it's first Trader Joe's grocery store. You know, the unique neighborhood grocery store with organic and environmentally friendly grub?! Maybe you've heard of it, maybe you haven't..  it's cool though because I did the research for you Lol..

Based in Monrovia, California, Trader Joe's has 300+ stores in the US. About half of those are located in California. The rest are scattered around the country and Houston is one of those lucky cities. :] Not one Trader Joe's, but two! One is still under construction but still..that's TWO!

Trader Joe's buys directly from suppliers and sells it under their own name. This isn't like going to Randalls, Krogers, or whatever grocery store you have. During my first visit, I noticed that most of the food there was new to me. I'd never heard of it or even imagined it. Frozen chocolate covered banana slices - Never even heard of this but it's the best thing known to man!! Srsly. A friend told me about them and the TJ's employee that showed me where they were made it a point to tell me that I needed two boxes. Lol, he was not lying!

Anyways, check out my finds and let me know what you recommend for my next trip. :]

It's a Photoswap 2012

Every year I join Rhianne's Photoswap and this year was no different. Not sure if you remember or not, but it's pretty simple. You get a disposable camera, Lomo camera, Canon, Nikon - Any camera with film.  You take all the photos and then ship it to your partner. Your partner does the same. Once developed, you upload them to the flickr group and/or blog about it. And that's it. Told ya it was simple! ;]

My partner this year is Berenice in Chicago. She blogs at Suenos En La Luna and these are her pictures. Enjoy! :] The yellow balloons (current wallpaper) and the lion statue are the best!! Thanks for the sweet photos Berenice! :] Btw, the place I took her roll of film to told me they 'misplaced' the roll and almost gave me a heart attack! Thankfully they found it and everything was alright. Whew.

Photoswap 2012, a set on Flickr.

I'd love to do this more often. I think i'm losing my touch. Guess we'll see once she uploads the roll of film I sent her. Eek! Lol! If you'd like to set up a photoswap with me, let me know! I think it would be fun!

What kind of swaps have you done?! Photo, postcards, shot glasses, food, etc. Tell me about the goodies!

Thrift Finds

Went thrifting the other day. Visited some Goodwill's and some random thrift stores. Didn't find a lot of goodies :( Need to do more research before I head out next time. Hopefully that'll improve my thrift finds. Found out I'm into drinking glasses with beer names on them. Weird. I normally collect shot glasses so I guess I've added to my collection.  Check out the goodies I found..Click to enlarge any picture.

POTUS is here to stay!

I've rewritten this post multiple times. Mainly because this is very important to me and I don't want to screw it up. The main thing I want to say is - I am beyond happy that Obama won 4 more years. A second term is soooo important for someone who has already started doing so much progress for us. I know some folks don't agree and that's fine. Fact of the matter is Obama is about helping the people. He's not perfect and neither was the other guy.  But he cares about our kids education, the needs of our elderly, woman's rights, and overall our healthcare. We all have different views on politics and I think it's great that we have the RIGHT to vote and the RIGHT to share how we feel for the POTUS or anyone else in the gov't. You wouldn't dare say anything negative about a president in another country when you know there's a chance you could either lose your life or go to jail forever. (More after the jump)

Textdrivebys - An Online Publication

I'm friends online with some of the most opinionated, empowering, and hilarious females I've ever known. We've been friends since I was about 15. That's like ages ago man. We've grown closer and closer throughout the years, especially now that we're adults and have our daily lives to put up with. We've seen each other go through some serious shizzle. From bad choices on men, births of new babies, to the destruction Mother Nature creates. We've helped each other with advice on all of the above and more. Out of all these friends of mine, I've only met one. & even though it's only been one, it doesn't change the way I feel for any of them. These ladies have helped me become the strong female I am today. They've never judged me and have always consoled me.

Where am I going with this, you ask? I'm telling you about this because I truly love and respect these females for everything they do and everything they are about.

Which is why I'm totally NOT spamming my blog but giving you a heads up on a site that you don't want to miss out on. Please click the link (which will open in a new window) and bookmark that shit.

LATISM'12 Experience..

Today marks a week since I went to LATISM'12 Conference in Houston.  I haven't posted about it because there is just so much to say. I've been debating making this a two and possibly a three part post, but today I decided to make it one and tell you what I learned. Plus a couple of pictures. For all pictures, please visit my Flickr - Here.

I'd like to start off by thanking the Houston LATISM'12 Directors that gave me a scholarship to attend this conference. Had it not been for them and my friend Xenia, I never would have known or attended. So of course, thank you for this fantastical experience.

I met and chit chatted with a ton of people. All were so happy to speak to me and share with me their own experiences. I exchanged a lot of business cards and even received emails from some of those people telling me it was a pleasure to meet me. Gasp!

I learned a lot from various people. Not just from the speakers. The following are things I learned or things I knew but want to share so that you know as well. I learned a lot more than this, but I'm going to try to keep it short.
