LATISM'12 Houston

I've been blogging since I was a teenager but never took it seriously. It was just a place to vent my daily rants. Now that I'm an adult, blogging has become a great place to share my experiences and receive feedback from friends and strangers.  I've owned 3twentysix.com since 2010 now and I have learned a ridiculous amount of useful information that I wish I had known back in the day.

My good friend Xenia from Raised by Culture has been attending all sorts of Blogging Conferences and shares what motivates her to keep blogging and being the best person she can be. I love all the info she shares with me because it's inspiring and makes me want to do more with my blog. Thanks to her I found out about a Houston Conference called LATISM'12.

A pioneering social media organization, Latinos in Social Media (LATISM) has been hailed as the most influential online movement in the new multicultural Web.
LATISM, the largest organization for Latino and Latina engaged in social media, is a 501(c) 4 nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing the social, civic and economic status of the Latino community.
LATISM also serves corporate brands, NGOs and government entities, with a broad range of services including research, event sponsorships, and leadership training. One of the most popular hashtags on Twitter, the #LATISM hashtag captures over 10 million impressions on a daily basis and enjoys the largest Latino network on Facebook. - From latism.org
Last week I received an email from the Houston Director Juan Alanis about a sponsorship to LATISM'12. Luckily, Xenia put a good word in for me and I am now attending my FIRST conference right here in Houston.

I can't wait. I'm excitamated. I'm nervous. I'm freaking out a bit. But overall I feel truly blessed to be a part of this.  Not only am I going to meet some very inspiring people but I'm excited to be motivated in ways I never thought possible.

This conference is going to help me figure out where I want to go with this blog and keep me focused on that. I'm hoping to learn more about myself and what I am capable of doing after this conference. I'm also hoping to make lots of new friends right here in Houston. Oh, I'm also pumped to meet Ruby from Growing Up Blackxican at LATISM'12. I've heard all sorts of sweet things about her and I'm sure we'll hit it off!

I've made a list of what I need to take to this conference and here it is..

  • iPad
  • iPhone
  • D - Nikon D60 DSLR
  • Black cardigan cause we all know conference rooms get cold
  • Two pens - Black & Blue
  • Notepad for all sorts of notes
  • Business cards I ordered from Moo.com
If you can think of anything else that I should take and haven't thought of, please let me know. I want to be well prepared for this. Thanks. :] Please spread the word. The more the merrier!

Please visit LATISM'12 for more information on this conference.  It is being held between October 25th to October 27th at the Hyatt in Downtown Houston. Oh and will be there. That should be enough for you to want to go haha! ;]

..till next time ;]

  1. No need to be nervous! I went to my first blogger conference last year without knowing anyone and because of it met some amazing people. Just go with a willingness to put yourself out there and introduce yourself to as many new people as you can. The great thing is that everyone will be there to meet new people so they'll be friendly :)

    1. You're so right Maribel! Thanks so much for sharing this cause that didn't cross my mind. I'll make sure to tell everyone who I am and that it's my first conference!!

  2. Bring your charger too - sometimes there are charging stations and it's pretty awesome ;x You are gonna have such a great time, so excited for you and a bit jealous haha

    1. Ah yes I must take my chargers! Thanks for reminding me!

  3. I'm so excited to meet you!!!!! Don't forget to bring your chargers you will def. be needing them there will be outlets all over so be prepared! Sometimes I carry granola or energy bars to eat because it can get a little busy. Make sure to pack a cocktail dress or something cute for the gala it's not mandatory but last year I ended up in jeans and a blouse and they had me go on stage... ya enough said with that. I am sure you will have the best time!

    1. Chargers - Check! Snack bars - Check! Cocktail dress - No can do LOL, but I can find a nice shirt and some slacks of some sort haha!

P.S. Since your comment never posted, I went ahead and copied it from my email notification and posted it again. So weird.

    2. I brought a bag of Walmart brand cherry sours, it lasted all of Niche Mommy and a couple weeks I got home but it was so good to have something to snack on lol You can so do a dress, Ruby and I do it lol

    3. I don't feel comfy in dresses or skirts. I feel like I have to keep an eye on my legs LOL!!
