happy birthday to my sister..

thursday was my sister's birthday and since i'm a broke ass i figured i could make her something instead of buying something and this is what i came up with..

i started off with two boards and i covered them up with paper from two diff stacks. the outside is from some random paper i had and the inside is from an amy tangerine stack that i adore!

amy tangerine paper on the inside
i also stamped a piece of scrap with a 'handmade with love' stamp and used a scrap of paper that says 'when you love life, it will love you back!' :]

i cut the lined paper individually :/
what took the longest to put together was the lined paper. i had a large journal that i wasn't using anymore and cut the pages individually so they would fit in this journal.

what my desk looked like in the process lol
yes my desk is a mess when crafting, but then again, who's isn't?! lol it's clean now dammit

conclusion :]
i can't wait to make more of these. they really aren't that hard to make. thinking of using all sorts of scraps to make my next daybook.

fits perfectly in a purse and doesn't take too much room.

so proud of my binding skills thanks to my new cinch machine :]

the back.

i had a bit of help from E cause he's super crafty like his moms and i needed some advice.  overall i'm very pleased with the outcome. i even squealed when it was complete. i also made sure i showed it to anyone who was in the house lol yanno, like kids when they make something LOL!! yeah that was me :]

are ya interested in learning how to make daybooks similar to mine or out of scraps?! join the facebook group daybook delights and get all sorts of tips.

have ya made a daybook or journal that you'd like to share?! any pointers?!

..till next time! ;]

p.s. my sister thought this book was lovely. so happy she loved it! <3

it's been slow..

it's been a bit slow in my cabeza lately so i decided to share some recent pictures and some links of some cool shizzle i found..

we're a petsmart family, no particular reason as to why. having five kids means going to petsmart pretty often. every visit brings new gifts home along with food. the big kids love tennis balls. the last time i brought tennis balls home, i bought a green ball and a pink one for each big kid. Remi is your typical puppy-child and always wants what the other kids have (& sometimes what we have). i gave the pink ball to jay and the green one to Remi, but he wasn't having that. he was pretty sure that pink ball was for him so he took it from her & then proceeded to murder the ball. see, he's convinced you are suppose to chew up and swallow the ball not play with it lol so when his ball gets taken up because he's close to swallowing it..he goes over and harasses jay to get her ball..

jay w the green ball, REMI harassing, & leana's ass
it's never a boring day at the reed's casa lol my kids help keep me entertained..but do nothing for my sanity lol hanging out with dogs all day cause you're unemployed isn't all that and a bag of chips yanno. the best part is they don't talk (although Remi loves being vocal) but because they don't talk, they don't understand a lot..which means i wanna pull my hair out sometimes haha but srsly, i love my kids. i wouldn't want it any other way. no srsly lol

my crazy husband E, becca, & vince
becca (vince's wife)  & birthday girl michelle (vince's sister)
saturday we celebrated michelle's 23rd birthday at pbr - professional bull riding bar/club. it was interesting to say the least lol i've never been on a bull, fake or real, and i haven't been to a club in ages. E and i don't really do clubs..we don't like people much. it sounds funny, but it's true. we don't like crowded places but we make exceptions depending on what the situation is..like the 311 concert, sublime w rome concert, or michelle's birthday. as usual i was the DD of the night - that never bothers me. i much prefer getting everyone and myself home in one piece than sit in the back and worry. plus i'm not much of a drinker so it's not a big deal to me. oh and it's cool cause i always get to drive a new car lol

scary mechanical bull that E & i did not ride lol

diy diffuser i found through pinterest. it's cheap and easy. oh and it really works. i used it the night we went to michelle's birthday and it helped not blind everyone LOL!

the cinch ver 2
i done got me a book binding tool - the cinch version 2. it was weird how it all came to be too. i had been talking to E about this for a couple weeks. showed him the video and everything. but i wasn't convinced on the price. as usual i have to do research on the product and debate it for a couple of weeks before i even consider purchasing. i ended up getting it through a friend and i can't wait to get started. the videos i've seen on youtube make it seem like it's easy peezy - we'll see about that!

alright since that's out of the way, let's see what i found online..

and i'm done. it's dinner time.

..till next time ;]

food truck love..

i love dogs. i think it's pretty obvious by looking at my IG lol it's literally full of pictures of the kids.  E and i don't visit dog parks much cause we live in houston and if it's not the heat killing us, it's the mosquitoes :/ but occasionally we visit and take our sweetest pup, leana little. just look at the face below, how can anyone not wanna pet her sneaky little ass?! lol at home we call her the hooker cause if you sit, she'll be all over you like white on rice lol she's also easier to control than the other dogs we have. leana is very submissive. so submissive that when we visit dog parks she hardly leaves our side. we're not sure if it's cause she's not interested in mingling or if it's cause she thinks she will get punished if she leaves our side.

today we visited the boneyard drinkery on washington ave. we had errands to run and weren't really sure if we were going to go so we didn't bring her along :( we met up with friends elizabeth, austin, and elizabeth's rowdy puppy harlow. don't be fooled, she's just as sneaky as leana little :)

courtesy of estrangm's instagram
from the boneyard drinkery facebook page:
Houston's first dogpark & bar! Large selection of beer and win. Tons of dog friendly indoor and outdoor seating, including a 7,000 sqft fenced in dogpark equipped with bagging stations and water bowls. FRIENDLY, WELL SOCIALIZED DOGS AND HUMANS ONLY!!! NO KIDS ALLOWED.
not only is the boneyard a real chill place but it's smaller than other dogparks and makes it easier to mingle with dogs and the parentals. the fenced in dogpark has lots of trees (thank goodness for shade), picnic tables, and a kiddie pool for the furbabies. the indoor bar is always very cool in temperature, with tv's and music, and with clean restrooms and clean tables. the employees have always been pretty nice to us and our kids. overall, it's a really nice place to hang out on sunday's. occasionally you'll hear some weirdo get upset cause a random dog jumped on them or drooled on them.  uh, hello?! you're at a dog park!! LOL!

on sunday's, bernie's burger bus parks upfront and hooks us all up with some nom noms. i'm all for food trucks. i think the dedication these people have is amazing. if i knew how to cook or could find someone that loved to cook, i'd totally have a food truck!!

one of the pre-schoolers - bernie's burger bus
i normally order the homeroom, which is a burger with applewood bacon, chedder, chipotle aioli, and topped with a fried egg. it also has tipsy onion's but i'm not a fan of onions. today i decided to go with the pre-schoolers, which is two mini signature burgers topped with chedder and all homemade ketchup, pickles and mustard. we each order a burger (or 2 mini burgers in my case) and two orders of fries. we never get the same type of fries and today for some odd reason we ordered the regular french fries from the extracurricular activities menu -shrugs- we also purchased a bottle of the bernie's burger bus ketchup which is BOMB for the casa! gotta support the local trucks!

so damn tasty!
thought this was cute..
E's all down for trying new beers. i take sips of his and stick to my dos x or stella :] these are the two beers he tried for the first time. they were both pretty tasty as all beers are unless you're drinking bud light lol

so that was our sunday. what did you do with your sunday?!

DIY jean journal..

i don't consider myself very crafty but the other day i was searching random shit on youtube and found this video..

again like i said i'm not very crafty but micheleva made this look very, very simple so i decided to give it a shot and make my own since the hubby is at work and i'm pretty bored..

what it looks like.

what i used+a button+10 pages of thick paper

what it looks like open.

what it looks like somewhat closed.

what it looks like completed.

the jeans that i used were the stretchy kind and i think that affected the outcome. had it been a regular pair of jeans (possibly bigger too) then the inside pages would be covered more. overall i'm pretty happy with what it looks like seeing as how it was my first time. i paused and played the video multiple times but the project itself took less than half an hour..

thanks micheleva for posting your video on youtube and helping me be creative today. :]

..till next time ;]

picture sharing is always fun..

a couple years ago a friend linked me over to rhianne's website, for the easily distracted. not only does she LOVE plastic cameras like me but she also does a photoswap once a year.

i joined the photoswap two years ago and was super excitamated. come to find out, my partner never sent me her film so i was left with nothing. kinda sucked cause i think the film i sent her was going to be a good roll. booo at flakers!

last year i joined and had shitty film so my pictures came out crappy. but my partners pictures were awesomesauce! at first i thought it was my picture taking skills lol it freaked me out a bit..but then i developed another roll that i bought along with the one i sent my partner and realized that it wasn't my camera or my skills..but the shitty film.

this year i plan on finally getting it right lol i'll be using granny and a good roll of film so that i disappoint my partner again. :/ i bought granny last year on ebay for $20. she's a canon eos rebel g and she's spiffy like all the other spiffy cameras i have. which btw i'm thinking of selling some of my plastic cameras due to them collecting dust..but that's for another post..

Each photoswapper either takes a roll of film or buys a disposable camera it has to be something that you develop and they take photos just for their swap partner, then send the cameras/films to each other and develop the other persons photos. (and posts them on their blogs for everyone to see of course)
Entry into the swap closes on Monday 20th August 2012 and the dates for sending your films to your partners will be announced once all the pairs have been put together (this can take a while depending on how many people join but don’t worry further dates will be announced, when I know, you’ll know).
so if you're interested...click the link and sign up for this years photoswap. you don't have to be an expert or own an expensive ass camera. it's all about having fun and the surprise of developing someone else's film. :]

last year i joined susannah conway's august break 2012 and i've joined again this year and i'm number 444 on the list. crazy cause 4 is my favorite number. :]

August Break 2012

 from susannah conway's website:
How it works: you simply share one photo (or more!) each day on your blog – Monday to Friday, or every day. Or whenever you feel moved to share. Using any camera – DSLR, compact, Polaroid, Holga, iPhone (my choice), Instax, film or digital – with or without words – anything goes! – for the whole of August. No pressure – just looking at August through your camera lens as a way to be more present this summer. And to have a little break from the pressures and expectations of regular blogging.

There are NO RULES, people! Just sunshine (hopefully) + a bit of fun. And lots of lovely photos to look at and new blogs to discover.
if you're interested, click the link and join. :]

if you join either of these..please don't forget to add a link on your sidebar to each AND to let me know so i can follow your pictures as well. :]

are you part of any picture sharing groups?! i'd love to check 'em out!

..till next time ;]

a couple months ago i discovered a site called whimseybox. i requested an invite so that i could purchase one and see what it was all about.

from the whimseybox.com
We deliver a carefully curated selection of craft products directly to your doorstep every month for just $25. You'll discover new products and look at longtime favorites in a whole new way.
i paid $15 for mine and i'm not sure if they increased the monthly price or if it's still $15 now. anyways this is a company that hasn't been out for very long but is very interested in inspiring YOU to make things and share with your friends.

last month i finally received my invitation to purchase my first box. of course i was excitamated, not only cause i was going to get my first box but because this company is based in houston. :]

i received my box yesterday and rushed to check it out.

i love the contents of the box and how neatly everything was packaged in but my favorite of it all is the box itself. the velcro and the little metal plate in the back so that you can reuse the box is freaking awesome. some of the other monthly subscription boxes aren't really reusable so it was nice to see that you can reuse this one.

can't wait to get started on this craft. as a pinterest member it's completely normal to pin things you want to do, read, eat, make, or see but how often do we actually get those done?! it's time to stop procrastinating (which is hard for me lol) and get some shit done. once i make this bracelet, i'll make sure to share. :]

to check out some other subscription boxes please visit xenia's post with a list of 'em. some of which i'm very interested in starting but can't due to funds.

are you part of a monthly subscription box?! which one and how do you like it?!
