spending time with mom..

mom and i hit up the houston international festival in downtown on saturday. it was a beautiful day and we soaked it all in. the festival was full of different countries, cultures, art, food, music, and dancing. the fest had argentina as the spotlighted country of this year. incase you didn’t know, i was born in buenos aires, argentina. i haven’t been there since i was 6 mths old, meaning i have no idea what the place looks like. it was nice seeing so much about my country and culture.

odd yet i like it..

E always finds odd music and turns me on to it. i’m not sure if he hears it on the radio (94.5 the buzz) or if his pandora is on point but i always like it. my pandora is on some hardcore crack. i have a paid version and although i dont have to hear the ads, the bitch always plays the same shit. how many freakin times do i need to thumb something down for you to freaking get it?! shit!

so he found this and i’m really digging it. the song kinda grew on me cause at first i was like wthizzie is this shit. i found the video today and umm it’s pretty damn weird…but i still like it. at first i thought the female was part of gotye, come to find out she’s a solo artist named kimbra. gotye is a belgian-austrialian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter and kimbra is a singer-songwriter from new zealand. according to the dubyadubyadubya, this song was released back in july of 2011. some celebrities helped bring some attention to the song, but apparently not that much cause it never me!! i’m not sure about other cities, but houston radio stations are a bunch of laggers. unless it’s requested, we don’t hear any of the new shit. i’m not much of a radio listener, it seems to me like the same music is played over and over again…i rather listen to myself breeff lol!

she has a different type of feel to her music as well. i’m diggin her hair and red lipstick. wish i could pull it off, i’m just not the make up type of chick!
give these two a shot, check them out on youtube, let me know whatcha think! ;]
..till next time ;]

keep film safe..

i’ve been signed up to receive photojojo’s newsletter for a while now.  if you don’t know whatphotojojo is and you like photography you must check out the link asap and subscribe.  it’s a nice little site that promotes cool shit for cameras..tips, products, projects, etc. they also have a tumblrand a store. a store that has awesomesauce products that i’ve purchased before.
last month they sent out a newsletter that explained how to keep your film fresh. i read it and thought i’d google to confirm it all. i’ve been using film regularly since ’10 and seeing as how we are in a digital world, i figured it was time to find a way to preserve my film before it’s all gone. kodak has a link to how you should maintain your film but there’s no pictures :x so for a shorter and picture including version…hit continue..
hopefully film will be around for ever, but chances are it probably won’t :[  this won't help your film be as great as the day you purchased it but it'll lag the aging process.  it'll extend the life of the light sensitive chemicals embedded in the emulsion.  i personally like expired film and want to maintain it in good condition. the reason why i like expired film is cause you never know what you're going to get as far as colors and leaks.  when it really comes down to it, i like the surprise i receive with film. there's no preview and no delete button. it is what it is.
this is what you'll need: film stash, label maker or marker and clear tape, plastic box or container, scissors, & empty film canisters.
i scored big with the film on my last trip to the lomo store in LA. thanks to groupon i had a $50 certificate that i paid $10 for. i spent the whole certificate on film & i'm running out fast :(moving on..
if your film is in a box, take it out but leave it in the canister.  taking it out of the box is mostly so it doesn't take up too much room in the plastic container you're going to put it in. once that is out of the way, label making time arrives!
i labeled mine this way: b&w (my fav) or color, the brand, the ISO, and how many exposures it has. that works for me, but you can write whatever helps you sort through your film faster. if you don't have a label maker you can easily write on a piece of paper (or use a printer) what your label should say. cut it out and use clear tape to paste it on the canister.
you can use index cards (a photojojo idea) to divide the film easier. i didn't do that with mine because i don't have a huge stash. i had a plastic box with a lid in my closet taking up space so i didn't need to purchase one.  you can find plastic boxes pretty much anywhere..target, walmart, ikea, the container store, etc.  make sure it's wide enough to hold the film you have and tall enough for the canister's height. i labeled my box so that E or allen don't freak out cause there's a weird box in the freezer lol!
once you're done, it's time to figure out where you're going to store the plastic container in the freezer. i put mine on the bottom shelf so that my food can sit on eye level shelves lol most freezer temperatures are 00 to -10F/-18 to 0C and that works perfectly.
when you're ready to use the film, take it out of the freezer a couple hours prior to using it. it needs to thaw out and if you don't give it enough time it'll be brittle and not worth a shit. once it's ready, pop it in your camera and shoot!!
if you're curious to know what certain exp films look like, check out flickr. not only are there pictures to check out, but a lot of groups have discussions on what they've come across. currently the easiest place to buy film is ebay cause there's an abundance of it. that doesn't mean it's all good though. remember to always ask where and how the film was stored before you purchase.  the internet is your friend, mostly google..do some research before you buy film.  also don't forget that some grocery stores and/or walgreens carry film. i've found film at flea markets, resale shops, .99 stores, and of course places like urbanoutfitters.  if you're looking for the good (expensive) shit, hit up the lomo store.
there's a couple other places but like i said, the internet is your friend..GTS son!
alright time to go shoot some heads in MW3 with E heh ;]

how i love thee..

instagram has reached androids all over the world! hallelujah to that! i was one of those people who took fotos with her android and sent them to my ipad so that i could put them on my instagram. sad, i know :[ don't judge me! but now we can all be a part of the instagram world! if you haven't already joined, get on it silly! i searched the market on my android but couldn't find it. i went thru this link and it automatically downloaded for me. or you can use this one. either way it goes, get on it! find me @3twentysixx :]
moving on..i’ve done more scrapping shopping. it’s becoming an obsession! i love obsessions haha! i took E with me on sunday! he’s your typical guy, doesn’t like shopping much unless it’s at home depot or lowes haha! but he was pretty awesome about it! he found some transformer stickers for me, which is a huge plus in my book! he also helped carry the basket with all my goodies!

i’ve been looking for a shadow box of some sort to put our photobooth fotos and two tokens from our wedding and found this one for $3.99 at michaels. :]

found this lonely R for $2.99. figured since i have the last name, i might as well decorate my house with it right?! :] we haven’t decided exactly where we’re going to put it, but the idea is it might go above our front door on the inside. we’ll see.
E and i are big movie geeks. let me clarify that, we are big at home movie geeks. we hardly ever go to the movies..mostly cause it’s pricey but we have other reasons. netflix, redbox, and cable are our best friends! we have two dining tables, one in the dining area and the other one in the breakfast nook? yeah that’s what we’ll call it. we hardly eat there, we’re americans damnit. we sit in front of the tv and eat lol! so during dinner we watch whatever movie we’ve picked out and after dinner sometimes we get a little too sleepy..depending on how nom noms the food was and don’t finish the movie.

that’s what happened with 50/50. we started it and had to finish it the next day. i enjoyed the movie way more than i expected. i knew it would be funny cause of seth rogen, but had no idea the movie would touch me the way it did. i’ll try not to give the movie away, but i have to talk about one scene that did it for me! joseph gordon-levitt plays adam lerner, your typical guy. he has a girlfriend, rachael who is played by bryce dallas howard, who he’s getting very comfortable with, a job working with his best friend, seth rogen who plays kyle. typical dude enjoying his life. he finds out he has a rare cancer in his spine and the movie takes you through the process of accepting and denying his cancer. his mother, anjelica huston, is over bearing and takes care of his father who has alzheimer’s disease. the part that made me bawl like a little girl was when adam is in the hospital waiting to go into surgery. he looks up at his dad, who does not recognize him, and tells him something along the lines of..i know you don’t know what’s going on and its hard to accept but i love you dad. his dad just kinda looks at him clueless and says ok. he then starts to get wheeled out to surgery and adam starts panicking. his mother comes over and holds him for a bit. that entire scene has me bawling. bawling so bad that E reached over and put his hand on my knee as to say it’s going to be okay. it takes a lot for me to cry during a movie or even get scared. but that right there did it. and it’s weird cause neither of my folks have a disease similiar to alzheimer’s or any other disease. i actually don’t know anyone who has a disease like this. yet, i can’t imagine the pain loved ones go thru when you know the outcome… i give this one 4 out of 5 stars. ;]

i’m pretty sure i’ve seen all the movies except 4. but ehh, they’re all about the same right?! i’m trying to figure out if they were all as graphic as this one. i mean goodlawd, there were a shitload of parts that had me squealing and jumping out of my seat cause they were so effing gory!

i remember laughing my ass off at every death tho! i really enjoyed the last scene. brought it all back! hopefully this is the last one..cause srsly, how many more movies can you make that are similar?! i give this one 3 out of 5 and that’s only cause i’m being generous lol!
..till next time ;]
