it's been 28 years..

i took the day off monday (3.26).  i don’t normally ask for my day of birth off, but i figured what the hell..you only turn 28 once right?! :]
my weekend started off with a movie.  i haven’t been to the movies in a while. well if you count cali’s two movies then it hasn’t been that long….let me rephrase that. i haven’t been to the movies with E in a long time.  we prefer sitting at home and not dealing with dumb dumbs who ruin the movie yanno. not to mention we’re smokers and we like our smoke breaks at random moments.
E’s best friend vin’s wife, becca turned 25 on friday (3.23) and he bought four tickets to go seethe hunger games.  i’m not sure if they were planning on inviting anyone else or what happened but the tickets were offered to us and of course we said yes!  i’ve turned into quite a little bookworm in the last year and finished the first book about two weeks ago or so.
don’t worry i won’t give any spoilers, i know there are a lot of ppl who haven’t seen it yet.  unlike many folks haters, i liked every character. i thought they were chosen perfectly and the acting was great.  since it’s a movie, i was pretty sure that it wasn’t going to be very accurate and i was okay with that.  but i think a lot of good, important parts were left out and i hope they make up for it in the next two movies.  i haven’t read the other two yet but i will as soon as i finish miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children, which was recommended to me by xenia. i’m enjoying the oddness of the characters and the story.  from what i’ve read, tim burton is planning on directing the movie adaptation of it and i’m pretty damn excited about it.
saturday E, robin- a friend of ours, and i went to the bayou city art festival to check out some art, talk to some cool artists, and meet up with more friends. E & i are pretty obsessed with gabe leonard‘s work. we purchased a couple prints from him last year and we were looking forward to purchasing some more this year. we also bought a couple prints from other artists and i promise once i get  frames and put them up that i will take fotos to share with you.
after all the walking we did, it was time to eat. if you know me, you know that i think of food on a regular basis. :) time to decide what to grub. someone yelled out craw fish and E was all over it! he was not going to let anyone change his mind because he’s in love with craw fish. that man can srsly put down some craw fish. a friend recommended canyon creek which wasn’t too far from where we were. e & i were the only ones who had never heard of it. apparently there’s two in houston and one in austin? so off we went. craw fish was $7 a lbs and you had to buy at least two lbs. E jumped right in and bought 3 lbs for himself. for some odd reason i can’t remember what i ordered…hmm..
sunday we went to the brickhouse as usual and chowed down.  we went home and relaxed a bit and after headed to the miller outdoor theater for a free concert. matisyahu preformed for aishel house to collect money for their cause. what aishel house does is provide assistance to those who come to houston for medical reasons.  i’ve never seen matisyahu live and knew it would be a great show even if we weren’t sitting up close. the miller outdoor theater always has something going on and the best part is that it’s FREE! who doesn’t like free?! the best part is that you can sit in the provided seating near the stage or up on the grassy hill. lawn chairs are welcome but only on one side of the hill. most folks take blankets, ice coolers, beers, food, and their dogs. here’s some info on the theatre that i found on their site..structure – 64 x 41 foot stage; 54 line sets for hanging lights, curtains and scenery; an orchestra pit which can be raised and lowered; dressing rooms; offices; full complement of theatrical equipment; 110-ton air conditioning system cools the performance area. nifty huh?!  allen has a company SUV for a bit since he’s car-less at the moment and we took advantage of all the space to invite a couple people.  i have short people syndrome so i asked to drive. allen loves me so of course he said yes, not to mention his gal was coming..that just means he gets to be cuddle with her in the back seat haha! allen invited two friends and off we went. parking wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be and we thought finding our two friends, elizabeth and austin would be hard for sure. thanks to this nifty thing called cell phones, we found them right away lol! we set our blankets down, pulled a couple beers out and got ready for the show.  like a dumbass, i forgot my camera at home. i know, i know..so sad! i had it charged and the memory card was ready!! the show started at 7:30 and ended around 10. we left a little bit before the show ended to beat traffic.  and that was sunday.
monday was a fantastical day! i did pretty much everything i wanted to do.  first stop..I-EFFING-KEA! last year for my birthday E and i attempted to do some shopping there. we failed miserably. we don’t like people much..especially when it’s a full freaking house so we left.  i guess it was my fault for asking to go on a weekend. but going on a monday means there’s no excuses haha! he gave me three hours..typical man that doesn’t like shopping lol i do most of my shopping online cause it’s easier for me so of course when i do get out..i have to touch and comment on everything. he thought it was cute to make fun of me the entire time so i made fun of his butt too heh! we had a little snack in the upstairs cafeteria. we halfed a chicken wrap, lays chips, and a chocolate cake slice and headed back for some more shopping. idk what other ikea’s are like, but in houston they have the rooms all set up nicely on the second floor and all the goodies on the first floor. it’s nice to see different layouts of rooms, but i prefer the first floor.
our ikea no longer has regular cashiers. it’s all check yourself out registers. we waited in line until a lady told us to to go to the next register. what are the freakin odds of ending up at register 84 the freaking year i was born!!?! we spent a little under $150 and i was pretty satisfied with our adventure. we made it out alive and E even told me he enjoyed our little trip..and if we must do it again, it can only be on a monday around noon lol! after that we hit the texas art supply store. i’ve never been and was entirely too excited when we went in. an employee asked if we needed help and the only thing i could say was ‘no thanks, but i’m excited to be here. it’s my first visit and also my birthday’. she looked at me funny, said ooohkay and walked away LOL!! two years ago for christmas, the inlaws hooked me up with a $35 gift card and i just so happened to have it in my wallet.  my total was $40 and some change. score!
didn’t buy much. a graffiti book for E to color on lol a blue decocolor acrylic paint marker and a small canvas to play on. i also bought a little book of doodles for a friend and i’m sure he’s going to love it. i saw some smash scrapbooking stuffs, but it’s pretty much the same shit i’ve seen at hobby lobby, michaels, and target..just a bit more expensive. smash NEEDS to come out with more shizzle already!!
we were hungry again after the tx art supply store so we headed to my favorite sushi joint,MIYAKO!! i had my usual, s&m maki which is spicy salmon and fried kani tempura topped with avocado, mayo, spicy sauce, and eel sauce. best shit ever!! mr. fat fat had the flaming lobster roll which is kani tempura and avocado topped with spicy craw fish (again, he’s in love with it) and tempura lobster. sounds delish, doesn’t it?! well, it was!!
we hung out at home for a bit after that till about 8:30ish. we headed out to jp hops house with some friends to celebrate my actual birthday! we ‘ve never been there but perry told us that every monday is open spin night.  we don’t have many records but one that we do have is  mumford & sons.  it was a fantstical gift my friend jessica<3 bought us as a wedding gift. perry told us we had to bring it when we first got it, told us the speakers were pretty badass! he didn’t let us down! it sounded glorious!! we also took the thriller album, la bamba album, purple rain album, adele, and a couple others..can’t member.  i figure if i’m going to buy vinyl records..these are some of the albums i should have heh :x we all drank and talked about the most random shit..cause that’s the best part about going to the bar right?! not only do you talk to the folks you know, but you always get into conversations with strangers. strangers always have something entertaining to say. didn’t eat dinner, but hops does have free popcorn and yes i had three bowls of it! :p
my night ended at 2am tuesday morning when i finally got into bed.
what an eventful and exciting birthday weekend..one to remember!
welcome to the 28th year of your life ariana…
..till next time ;]

the smoke is killing me smalls..

smoking sucks! it’s addicting, it smells, & it’s expensive.  E & i did some numbers the other day and realized that we spend about $85 a week on cigarettes together. that’s $340 a month and$4080 a year!
perry, my father in law has an e-cigg that fascinates me.  the e-cigg through joyetech comes with two e-ciggs in two packs and his friend john was kind enough to hook him up when he purchased his! every time i see one of them i ask multiple questions cause i’m super curious! about a month ago, i saw john at a show (they are part of a group called B.O.O.M) and i asked him about his e-cigg. he told me he would email me the link and i could check it out. the link never came and i harassed E to harass john about it.  again nothing happened. :(
sunday the 18th, E, allen, and i went over to my in-laws to celebrate my birthday. in the reed family we always celebrate birthdays a week or so prior so that if you have plans on your birthday you can still go through with them.  food at the reed’s house is always DELISH! i’m not much of a cake person, i think it’s cause the icing is always too damn rich for me. so perry made a badass carrot cake for me!!  i never expected to receive birthday presents cause we’re just not big on gifts for birthdays or holidays.  but this year i’m new to the family. well technically i’ve been around for a while, but since E and i are married..i’m legally part of the family now! anyways, so here comes my mother-in-law connie with two gift bags! like i said, i wasn’t expecting it and i’m really not good with opening gifts. i freaked a little haha!  the first bag was two bags and a glass bottle with blue M&M’s that said mr. & mrs. reed!! i couldn’t stop thanking them! ive always wanted personalized M&M’s but never had a reason to get them! the second bag had a little black box in it. i opened the box and to my surprise there were two e-ciggs in them!! i wanted to strangle E cause he knew about it and that’s why i never received the link to buy them myself!  sneakyasses lol!
i kept one and gave the other to E. since they’re the same, i needed to figure out how to make mine different so we wouldn’t confuse each other. not that it really matters cause we swap spit on a regular basis hehe ;x but still. when i went to disney last year i bought a nightmare before christmas sticker book.  i asked E if he could use an exacto knife and cut one of the stickers with jack’s head on it so i could put it at the bottom. so here it is..my little e-cigg.
on monday we went to a smoke shop to check prices and see what kind of nicotine flavors there were. the flavors are ridiculous. watermelon, jolly rancher, vanilla bean, bubble gum, strawberry…just random shit. they even have camel or marlboro nicotine flavors which we thought was pretty cool. we ended up walking out with vanilla bean per the employees recommendation.  he said the popular one was vanilla bean and each bottle should last roughly about three weeks.  seeing as how E and i are sharing, it probably won’t last that long.  the only part of the e-cigg that makes me sad, but i know can be fixed, is that it leaks. it gets all over my hands and my purse :( i’m planning on buying some back up atomizers and tips so it should work fine soon. at first i felt like i was smoking out of an asthma inhaler lol but i’m getting use it. i still want ciggs off and on. i don’t think the desire to smoke a cigg will ever go away..but at least with the e-cigg i’m not spending a gagillion bucks and it doesn’t have all the added harmful chemicals that ciggs have.
i’ve got some more sharing to do, but not enough time at the moment so i’ll be back with a new post soon.
..till next time ;]

a couple of online pictures and blogs have brought something to my attention…
i saw pictures and people talking about how neat it was and how excited they were. so i took it upon myself, as i normally do, to GTS [google that shit] and figure out what exactly it’s all about..
SMASH v. : that act of sticking your cool stuff into this awesome book.
it’s a scrapbook that comes with a pen/glue stick!  with different colored backgrounds and interesting quotes on some pages.
what’s pretty awesome about this is if you’ve never scrap-booked, it’s a perfect way to start!  i’ve got ton of boxes with shit that i want to keep forever like pictures or drawings and this is the perfect place to put it. smash pads help you write down sweet quotes and memories. you can also buy more pens/glue sticks and cute paperclips to add some awesomeness to your book.
k & company sells all sorts of smash accessories on their site here. watch this video to see how a smash folio is put together.
you can also find smash folios at hobby lobby, amazon, michaels, and from what i hear, you can also find some at target. the sweet thing about hobby lobby and michaels is that you can get 40% off coupons online! avg price for the folio’s are between $11-$16 and a little under $35 for a smash folio kit.  the accessories are roughly between $2-$4..so still not that bad.
i’ve started putting a couple of things in mine, still have a shitload of blank pages..but surely i’ll get it full and want another folio! ;]
i paid my local hobby lobby a visit today during lunch to see what i could find.  i bought some marriage stickers today! ha, i’m married! i also bought some colorfulass BIC mark-it permanent markers to doodle all over the place.
you see that shadow ^^ yeah that’s my dome! don’t laugh!
i’ll show ya how my smash folio is coming along soon enough! till then, google smash folio and look at other people’s progress. there’s videos, pictures, and multiple blog posts about it.
&& now it’s bed time.
..till next time ;]

sometimes what happens in vegas..doesn’t always stay in vegas..

i’m a procrastinator. i know this. my parents know this. my friends know this. and you should also know this. :| see there’s something I have to tell you and I haven’t been able to do so because I just don’t know how to say it…
let’s start off slow. our trip to Vegas was fantastical..except for the walking of course. next year we are doing some hardcore training before we fly out!  jeebus i think i grew a second calf muscle on my right leg heh! the m&m store was cool freakin frijoles!! i wanted to buy just about everything, thankfully E made sure to hold me back!  we visited the store twice. the first time it was just for E to check it out lol yeah right! i figured if we were going to do more walking, maybe i shouldn’t have tons of m&m bags with me. and i knew i couldn’t leave without buying shit at the most tastiest store EVER!! the best part of the m&m store was….I MET BLUE!!!! i swear i’m turning 28 and not 8 this month lol!

a couple posts back i explained how my vegas trip came to be.  to make it short, we had the days off and were planning on going to colorado. that didn’t work out so we headed to vegas..just the mister & i.  the package that i bought through southwest airlines gave us the flights, room, and a free show.  we picked the tournament of kings due to the other non-sold out show being viva elvis. now to be clear, we love cirque du soleil, but not enough to watch an elvis show!  the tournament was a ridiculous amount of fun. we got to yell, grub, stand up, bang our hands on the tables, so just plain out having fun.  the interaction with the kings and the people sitting next to you made it so much fun…the food on the other hand..ehh, we coulda done with out! we had team france and i’m pretty sure E acted as if he didn’t know me when i stood up and starting screaming for our king. what? ..he’s our king, wheres the freakin team effort yanno? lol! we met some canadian newlyweds who were huge fans of the texas longhorns, who woulda thought huh? we talked a bit with them before the show started and decided we had to go to the roller coaster at new york, new york together!  on my first visit, i remember riding it at least three times and i don’t like roller coasters! i consider myself scared of heights, and for the most part i stay away from roller coasters.  after the show we headed over to the coaster and did the damn thing!!
we gambled a lot and found a war table at harrah’s and showed the house who the boss was. lol! it’s actually one of the easier games and i’m not sure if they have them in every casino or not, but i def recommend it. E’s friend J and his gal Kelley showed up thursday night and we stayed up with them till about 5am. we had a freaking blast!! it was nice to see familiar faces after being with complete strangers
that’s one thing i really enjoyed about our trip. it felt like it was E and Ari against the world. to be honest, it’s kinda been like that since we hooked up.  E and i went to high school together. no we weren’t high school sweethearts or even hung out together.  we knew of each other but never really had a conversation.  he was cool with my best friend at the time, but we never talked.  years after high school we connected on myspace lol since we had been in the same high school we had mutual friends so we added each other. why not right?
at the time i was going through some hard times with the guy i was dating and E took it upon himself to send me a message telling me he knew what i was going through cause of the broad he had been dating.  after that convo, hurricane ike hit and he put his number on his status in case people didn’t have anywhere to go..he was at a friends casa that had generators, water, and food. i sent him a txt on my way to san antonio with my mom and sister telling him good luck and what not cause he was staying in houston. once the hurricane drama passed and my family came back to houston we met up at E’s casa..and hit it the fuck off.  i don’t think our intentions were to hook up, it was mostly to bond. we both liked each others company and figured why not hang out?! two weeks later, i had a key to his casa..and two weeks after that i was moving in!
if we aren’t friends on facebook, i’m assuming you’re wondering why i’m telling you this. the reason why i’m telling you all of this is cause E & I didn’t just go to vegas cause he had never been there. not cause we didn’t have anything better to do. or cause the m&m store rocks my effing socks…
search  ’ariana & elliott’ on your favorite search engine. chances are that somewhere near the top searches you’ll see a link that says ‘MARRIED:: ARIANA & ELLIOTT:: VEGAS WEDDING « Blog « :: Lauren …‘.
that’s when you look back at the title of this blog and smile cause YES!! we got married! and not just married..we had a freaking blast!! and it was cheap!! none of this i’m going to spend 10k on a wedding crap. and what flowers are we going to pick and OHEMGEE where am i getting my dress and bla bla bla…no we paid a total of $380 with the marriage license and loved e-v-e-r-y single part of it!! you know how in the movies they wake up the next day and trip out cause they’re married. yeah BULLSHIT! you have to go downtown and purchase the damn license. cost us a $38 taxi drive up there lol!
what made the wedding awesomesauce was that lauren rosenau was present.  we had walked into the cosmopolitan casino due to it being so pretty and my friend anna telling me it was beauuuutiful!! we had no idea where we wanted to get married or any details about what it might cost. come to find out, the cosmo had recently opened up a pop-up wedding chapel and faced out to the strip. how could we pass that up?! we had complete strangers sitting in the chapel during our ceremony. not to mention lauren was also a stranger. she over heard us talking to the minister about getting married & being a wedding photographer herself, her gut told her to jump in and take pictures for us. <3 loving photography as much as i do, it was kinda sucky not to have anyone there that could hook us up. but it all worked out so well.  the day was 02.24.12 (friday) and we wanted to get married at 2:24:12 but the minister had a better idea. getting married at 12:24:02 mirrors 02.24.12 :] so we had 20 min to get ready. i loved that there was a prop box for us. i picked minnie & mickey cause it matched and i thought it would be hilarious for our pictures. :]
pricing was good. they also had his & her shirts that we HAD to buy ;] since we didn’t have rings, they had eraser rings available for us. mine was massive on my hand, but his was cutting off circulation haha!  they also had a photo booth available. we bought the package with two photo booth tokens. we made sure to take three of us together and three with our friends J & kelley. which btw, J was MY best man! haha! they had b&w or color, but since i <3 b&w..we had to do it! bert, ernie, and the count just so happen to be walking down the strip and lauren captured them looking through the window at us.
i want to thank everyone who freaked out when we facebooked it all! we’ve never received so many ‘like’s or comments lol! thanks for the well wishes, the love, the congrats, just overall being in our lives!! ahh look at me, i’m getting all teary eyed haha!
..till next time ;]
p.s. for more fotos of the wedding, mostly lauren’s beautiful photos go to the flickr album.
